Re: Posting Advice

I wouldn't trust my personal safety to someone's advice based on a hill logger. Munro compleation takes about 150 days. There are folks that could put that together in less than 5 years of summer walking. Others could manage that being led in clubs without ever leading or planning. I agree it would...

Re: Posting Advice

Personally I wouldn't venture advice to someone I hadn't met and often wince at well-meaning, rather poor quality statements seen on social media. I see where your coming from but if no one wrote reports or gave advice very few people would visit the site apart from to look up a walk in a particula...

Re: Long walk for a beginner

The Great Glen Way won't give you much practice map reading but is very easy to follow. I only did a short section of around 12 miles as part of a longer walk and found it hugely tedious. Hi urban wanderer here's my thoughts. To do 12 miles and comment on a 72 mile route is maybe a bit misleading a...

Re: Bidean nam Bian / Three sisters next week - navigation

Good advice from mgmt. a smart phone is not enough. If you're in glencoe maybe try the pap of glencoe fairly straightforward and a brilliant viewpoint and if conditions are poor retrace your steps but still take a map

Re: Walking themed Songs

Kid Rock - Roll On. This usually gets played on the boom box at a remote bothy but only if there's no other residents wouldn't want to upset any peace loving mountain folk  Recently heard playing at the Tarf hotel

Roll on, there's mountains to climb

Re: Name that Loch!

Cheers Malky think your right about the east coast thing. Whats the name of the loch in the centre of the picture behind this 5 star accommodation. OK I Know it's a small part of the photo but the hills will give it away.

Re: Is it possible to ascent Ben More Assynt from Eagles Roc

No prob Vincent and good luck with your trip. The ridge from eagles rock to Ben More Assynt and traverse to Conival is far more interesting than the usual route for these munros. I did it a few years ago but hoping to do a variation this year when there is a good spell of weather. The plan is to con...

Re: Is it possible to ascent Ben More Assynt from Eagles Roc

Hi Vincent it is possible to ascend Ben More Assynt from eagles rock. There is a bit of fairly easy but exposed scrambling on the ridge. This is between Ben More Assynt and the south top and is best tackled straight up the middle and over the top of the big rock. Easy in good weather conditions thou...
