Re: Ben Chonzie Mountain Bike Advice

I've only done it when the tops been snow covered also. I dont think its worth taking the bike though unless you are really into that sort of thing.

Re: Advice for female walker

You sound like you need to build your confidence. I don't know if it's an option but you might benefit from going out on the hill with someone else. Do you have friends or a local club? I have also seen women only navigation courses in the past. Building your own confidence without deferring to som...

Re: Ben Nevis Tourist Route

Almost certainly won't be officially OK to use it. Probably because the signs gone, and once one goes that way others will follow. I'm quite surprised the signs haven't been replaced quickly. It's not a great short cut anyway and the proper path is a breeze on that section. It's a few years since I ...

Re: Seventy (!!) parking fines issued at Loch Lomond

I've been out a fair bit since the lockdown eased and it's been busy in places but I have always found a place to park. If you really want to go to one particular place and it has to be on a weekend you have to get there very early. I think its getting a bit less busy in places now. I was at the big...

Re: The Saddle, in memory of Amanda

Great stuff Gill. I was on the Forcan Ridge that very same day. I started early and parked in the long lay by which was still busy even early doors. Looks like you had a brilliant weekend and a great way to remember your friend - hard to beat Kintail on days like these.
All the best. :D

Re: Seventy (!!) parking fines issued at Loch Lomond

The effects of corona have been far reaching. The parking fines were excessive in volume. Majority of people can't go abroad due to the restrictions and the subsequent quarantine if you do get away. That leaves holiday at home . Therefore, it is going to be busy at local beauty spots and places of ...

Re: Carn a'Mhaim to corrour bothy

I walked Derry Cairngorm and the path after derry lodge would have been unsuitable for my hybrid bike, thought it would have been similar, the more ground I can cover on a bike the better. Are you sure we are talking about the same path? The path from Derry Lodge to Derry Cairngorm is a different p...

Re: East Fisherfield: old ground and new

Top quality report and video. Brought back some good memories of when we camped at the south end of Loch an nid below the slabs. A fantastic spot & great hills.
A shame about the rude shouty person - you did well by not engaging with them.

Re: Carn a'Mhaim to corrour bothy

Hi Craig I would suggest cycle all the way to the Luibeg burn and leave the bike in the trees there. I've done it a few times and its not bad apart from the short lived boggy bit after Derry Lodge. From the summit of Carn a Mhaim carry on along the ridge which is a good walk then down by the tailors...

Re: Proposed Reintroduction of Lynx....thoughts?

When the Lynx was last roaming Scotland the human population was probably less than 500,000. It's hard to see the Lynx being able to coexist alongside the 5.5 million nowadays but it would be worth a try. It would be good to see lynx living wild in Scotland but I don't think many people are interest...

Re: Deer Keds

I describe them as rubber flying spiders 🕷 🕷

They remind me of the AstroTurf football pitches when after a game you end up with tiny rubber balls inside your shoes 🕷 clothes 🕷 and in your hair 🕷
There were loads in my car last week from Glen Shiel.

Re: Seventy (!!) parking fines issued at Loch Lomond

I have been looking at train travel tonight and the latest from National Rail Enquiries states as follows "The scottish government has made it clear that public transport should be used by those making necessary journeys only........ Please don't travel if your journey isn't a necessary one&quo...

Re: Complete Munro round in 33 days

Yes starting on Mull makes sense - less kayaking.
Also saving on a lot of cycling and a lot of uphill by using the kayak after Beinn Sgritheall. Good tactics and impressive stuff. 8)
