Re: In the heart of Ardgour

That looked like a great day apart from the beasties!

Its a great area but as you say not too handy from Inverness. There are good campsites at Strontian and Resipole which I have used while in the area or on trips to Mull. Breaks it up a bit.

All the best. :D

Re: Cycling Glen Shiel, which Way is easiest ?

Thanks for this - was about to ask the same question! Sounds like bike in the trees at the west, then driving back to start from Cluanie Inn is the suggestion. Many thanks! That's only one of the suggestions. It really depends how happy you are cycling uphill for several miles on a busy road. For m...

Re: Overnight parking in Tyndrum

Just give them a call. I doubt it would be a problem and even if it was I can't imagine it would be an unpleasant conversation.

There's parking at Bridge of Orchy also if you are heading that way.
All the best :D

Ps I would recommend the campsite also..... if it has space.

Re: Ben Chonzie Mountain Bike Advice

I've only done it when the tops been snow covered also. I dont think its worth taking the bike though unless you are really into that sort of thing.

Re: Advice for female walker

You sound like you need to build your confidence. I don't know if it's an option but you might benefit from going out on the hill with someone else. Do you have friends or a local club? I have also seen women only navigation courses in the past. Building your own confidence without deferring to som...

Re: Ben Nevis Tourist Route

Almost certainly won't be officially OK to use it. Probably because the signs gone, and once one goes that way others will follow. I'm quite surprised the signs haven't been replaced quickly. It's not a great short cut anyway and the proper path is a breeze on that section. It's a few years since I ...

Re: Seventy (!!) parking fines issued at Loch Lomond

I've been out a fair bit since the lockdown eased and it's been busy in places but I have always found a place to park. If you really want to go to one particular place and it has to be on a weekend you have to get there very early. I think its getting a bit less busy in places now. I was at the big...

Re: The Saddle, in memory of Amanda

Great stuff Gill. I was on the Forcan Ridge that very same day. I started early and parked in the long lay by which was still busy even early doors. Looks like you had a brilliant weekend and a great way to remember your friend - hard to beat Kintail on days like these.

Re: Seventy (!!) parking fines issued at Loch Lomond

The effects of corona have been far reaching. The parking fines were excessive in volume. Majority of people can't go abroad due to the restrictions and the subsequent quarantine if you do get away. That leaves holiday at home . Therefore, it is going to be busy at local beauty spots and places of ...
