Re: Five Sisters 2nd half of August / Start September

Yeah that sounds good, I haven't wild camped since March :)

I will have a wee look at the map, I noticed a couple of spots further up the road along the lochside so that might be an idea too.

Re: Five Sisters 2nd half of August / Start September

Looking at camping either Sat or Sun night, depending on 7 day forecast. Can anyone recommend camp sites nearby?

Sgurr Eilde Mor

Walk with friend of mother in law, took her on her first munro. Good conditions, although started to cloud over later the cloud base by that point was well above summit. Got some nice shots of ben nevis, although that summit cloud shrouded.

Re: Another windfarm rant

This is something that also concerns me, there's probably an obligation on the Owner to remove the turbines and reinstate the land (although I'm not sure the politicians will have thought that far) I'm sure some clever accountant will see the opportunity to avoid these costs by selling off the 'ass...

Re: Another windfarm rant

I would rather have a nuclear plant nearby than a wind farm, the former at least being worthwhile whilst the latter being utterly pointless. I don't see that the nuclear plant on the coast south of Edinburgh has caused any problems with house prices nearby. Yes we need energy from somewhere. However...

Five Sisters 2nd half of August / Start September

Anyone interested in doing this? Might be handy with two cars, having done South Ridge yesterday without a car I can testify as to the length of the road back!

Re: Glen Shiel Ridge 10th August

I think this has to be my favourite walk so far, I was glad I didn't find the arete sections bad at all and I am keen to go and have a crack at the North Glen Shiel Ridge.

South Glen Shiel Ridge

Low cloud early on in the morning, started to break up as day got hotter and got very patchy. Little cloud by mid afternoon. Got some good photos, haven't been up in these conditions before, it was really good for getting shots. 1748.JPG Should have taken more water though and had to top up water fr...

Re: Glen Shiel Ridge 10th August

I was lucky to have cloud cover on the wa up, once over it I got some nice shots of the hills looking like islands. The walk back along the road was a bugger in the heat, thankfully I flagged a lift for the last mile. I will load some shots in th morning :D

Drumochter Second Visit at night

Arrived about 03.30, initially cloud free so sky was starting to brighten from 01.30am on way up! Parked at Layby 79. Crossed track at wrong place, should have gone further down and used underpass which I did on way back. If redoing, would be more careful as bend in track in both directions might no...
