Shining Tor

Enjoyable short moorland route. Views all the way to the Beacons from the summit and very good walking up Goyt's Clough even on tarmac. (Camera missing again).

Re: Windy Gyle & Cushat Law

Cheers Broggy. You're right that High Cup (probably with Knock Fell) is the best Hewitt walk I've got left in the N Penns, but (as those remaining 20 ticks show...) I'm not really for saving the good ones up! The last will almost certainly be Little Fell - I've very little enthusiasm for the 'guided...

Stiperstones

Very good Shropshire walk, sharp contrast between the rocky summit ridge and the lush meadows west. stiperston.gpx DSCN1257.JPG DSCN1258.JPG DSCN1261.JPG DSCN1262.JPG DSCN1271.JPG DSCN1272.JPG DSCN1277.JPG DSCN1279.JPG DSCN1282.JPG DSCN1285.JPG DSCN1288.JPG DSCN1291.JPG DSCN1292.JPG DSCN1293.JPG DSC...

Windy Gyle & Cushat Law

A very long and warm epic in the far north, a few slow steps nearer the end of the Hewitts. windy_gyle.gpx After a noisy and crowded weekend in Newcastle, the Cheviots seem a lot further away in spirit than they are on the ground – great empty countryside miles from anywhere but a few hamlets, and o...

Calton Pastures

Gentle sunny walk around the edge of the Chatsworth Estate, good paths and lovely woodland. On a whim and camera-free for once.

Penhale Hill, Readymoney, Lantivet Bay,South-West Coast Path

Short walks on a beautiful day in south Cornwall. The Path is a bit functional east of Looe (the final climb a new stretch to me), but great everywhere around Fowey. millendrea.gpx DSCN1100.JPG DSCN1103.JPG DSCN1107.JPG DSCN1112.JPG st_catheri.gpx DSCN1115.JPG DSCN1117.JPG DSCN1118.JPG DSCN1119.JPG ...

Swanage Bay, St Aldhelm's Head, South-West Coast Path

Two easy-ish but good Purbeck walks under greying skies, filling gaps on the SWCP. swanage.gpx DSCN1025.JPG DSCN1029.JPG DSCN1033.JPG DSCN1037.JPG DSCN1042.JPG DSCN1044.JPG DSCN1048.JPG DSCN1050.JPG st_aldhelm.gpx DSCN1060.JPG DSCN1062.JPG DSCN1065.JPG DSCN1066.JPG DSCN1069.JPG DSCN1070.JPG DSCN1071...

Re: Easiest Lakeland fell?? Advice needed please...

Latrigg is indeed a good bet for the easiest, and with a great view. If that looks a little bit too easy (I fondly hope I can still walk 5km at 86yo; Latrigg from the carpark is less than that and a genuine 'anyone can do' walk), then Rannerdale Knotts - via the east ridge from Buttermere - perhaps?...

Waun Fach

Reprising perhaps the best hillwalk in the Black Mountains. Better this clockwise way, and a lot more paths now than 8 years before. waun_fach.gpx DSCN0957.JPG DSCN0961.JPG DSCN0964.JPG DSCN0968.JPG DSCN0969.JPG DSCN0970.JPG DSCN0972.JPG DSCN0973.JPG DSCN0977.JPG DSCN0981.JPG DSCN0984.JPG DSCN0989.J...

Monk's Dale, Bradwell Edge

More new areas of the Peak. Monk's Dale was lovely - wild and green; the second walk easy but scruffy in places. monksdale.gpx DSCN0835.JPG DSCN0837.JPG DSCN0838.JPG DSCN0842.JPG DSCN0845.JPG DSCN0848.JPG DSCN0850.JPG DSCN0853.JPG DSCN0855.JPG DSCN0856.JPG bradwell.gpx DSCN0862.JPG DSCN0864.JPG DSCN...

Heddon's Mouth & Woody Bay, South-West Coast Path
