Re: Another new Hewitt...

A few years ahead of me indeed, Malky, and definitely a more epic adventure to get there! It's a good half-day even the easy way in.

(To add to the pedantry, it should probably end up in the 'Arenigs & Rhinogs' group, with its neighbours, in time).

Re: Another new Hewitt...

Definitely a very good one! (I'll forgive this surveyor for demoting Fan y Big now).

Only a quarter-mile from Moel Ysgyfarnogod so I'd hope most baggers have done them together anyway, but a nice place to go back to if not...

Win Hill & Hope Cross

Really good Peak walk in the winter sun; particularly enjoyable ascent path beside Parkin Clough. winhill.gpx DSCN9628.JPG DSCN9630.JPG DSCN9632.JPG DSCN9639.JPG DSCN9644.JPG DSCN9645.JPG DSCN9646.JPG DSCN9647.JPG DSCN9648.JPG DSCN9649.JPG DSCN9653.JPG DSCN9654.JPG DSCN9658.JPG DSCN9660.JPG DSCN9662...

Re: Mungrisdale.. ..or not?

I'd say from your description, tiny tarn, northwards from the 'ridge end' and what sounds like a short detour, you almost certainly went to Atkinson Pike. You'd have had to go down and back up quite a long way in a different direction and got memorably wet (given recent weather) to have reached Mung...

Stanage Edge

No views at all, but still enjoyable walking on a return to this Peak edge.

Scafell Pike

Repeat visit to England's highest in unseasonably great weather. Enjoyed the Corridor Route approach and some dramatic rock scenery. scafellpik.gpx DSCN9514.JPG DSCN9519.JPG DSCN9520.JPG DSCN9523.JPG DSCN9526.JPG DSCN9528.JPG DSCN9530.JPG DSCN9531.JPG DSCN9534.JPG DSCN9539.JPG DSCN9543.JPG DSCN9548....

Blencathra

Haring back up a fine mountain (via Wainwright's recommended routes) to beat the sunset. The odd wrong turn but still a good route. blencathra.gpx DSCN9490.JPG DSCN9493.JPG DSCN9496.JPG DSCN9497.JPG DSCN9498.JPG DSCN9500.JPG DSCN9502.JPG DSCN9506.JPG DSCN9507.JPG DSCN9508.JPG DSCN9511.JPG

Rhossili Down

First visit to the Gower, another hazy day. Lovely beach and cliffs, not perhaps the greatest choices of route. rhossili.gpx DSCN9394.JPG DSCN9401.JPG DSCN9405.JPG DSCN9407.JPG DSCN9412.JPG DSCN9416.JPG DSCN9420.JPG DSCN9423.JPG DSCN9427.JPG DSCN9430.JPG DSCN9432.JPG DSCN9434.JPG DSCN9435.JPG DSCN94...

Angle Peninsula, Manorbier

Largely grey day on the Pembs Coast. First, a circuit of the Angle peninsula, great beach with an exceptional 'burger van' and a fine wild southern coast, although the north side over Milford Haven is enclosed and featureless, hardly worth the slight detour. angle.gpx DSCN9170.JPG DSCN9179.JPG DSCN9...

Tenby to Amroth & Colby

Not the most spectacular section of Pembrokeshire Coast - either wooded or developed. But a lovely town, fine beaches, and a good NT estate (even out of season) to finish. amroth.gpx DSCN8757.JPG DSCN8768.JPG DSCN8773.JPG DSCN8780.JPG DSCN8785.JPG DSCN8788.JPG DSCN8791.JPG DSCN8793.JPG DSCN8799.JPG ...

The Cheviot

After a long weekend of very mixed weather and walking in Northumberland, the purpose of the trip – the top of the Park and a major landmark among the last few English mountains. Doubtless it's perhaps better to save this for a drier day than the immediate aftermath of a huge storm, but this was too...
