Re: Coleman Cobra 2 - owners?

And around midpoint in that ownership this thread was created. 8) I've jumped around a bit since then. After the Vango Blade 200, I when with a DD pyramid. Very spacious, but I wasn't happy with the quality. I've now settled on a Nordisk Telemark 2 LW. Expensive, but an amazing tent  I'll be ...

Re: Hiking the Cape Wrath (aka ‘Cape Rough’) Trail

Hi,

Great report!
I really enjoy your husbands YouTube videos. I'm keeping track of his reports on the SNT. It's a dream of mine to do that also.

Keep up with the trails, and keep us entertained with videos and reports

Re: Ullapool pub grub

Take a drive out onto the Coigach peninsula and go to 'Salt' in Achiltibuie.
Well worth the drive. You won't be disappointed!

Might be an idea to book though.

Re: Footwear for river crossings

I'll second croc style jelly shoes. Dry quickly and also work for bothy shoes. If you invest in a good pair that are comfortable, they'll also be ideal for the short road /track sections to give your feet a bit of a breather. I took rubble bags - never used them. I made my own lightweight bothy sand...

Re: Cape wrath Info needed. Falls of Glomach alternative?

Try this....if not, its YouTube, 'The Bushcraft Bothier - Cape Wrath Trail'.
He has a hard time, but I think he sums it up pretty well. CWT is for people with experience and navigational knowledge. Even then, you may still get beaten by the weather...

Re: Cape wrath Info needed. Falls of Glomach alternative?

Got worried when I saw a YouTube video and the maker got the screaming jeebies and said it was impossible Although I think he missed the path and was at the view point. I saw that video recently. He really tells it as it is! More people should watch his account before attempting the CWT. It ...

Re: 6'4 and 5'1...is there a tent out there for us?

Hi Jazz,

It was me that suggested the Blade for your WHW trip.
Have you tried the Blade 200?
I'm 6ft and find there's loads of room.

Mine is on eBay at the moment... £90. Never used as I decided to throw money at a ultralight.

Re: What to pack for Bothy Trip

Tent!! Shenevall is one of the more popular bothys. There's no guarantee you're going to get a space. Even if you've gone off for the day then come back. I've been there in May when the bothy was full and there was 4 tents outside.

Exped Tents

Or more specifically the Exped Cetus II UL.

Does anyone have any experience with these?

To be honest, I'd never even heard of Exped until I started looking into lightweight tents with bigger vestibules. Or as my wife puts it, "are you looking at tent porn again?"

Re: Carnoch Bridge

Hi Mich
I don't know about Charlie but I've changed my plans with the weather being as it has been. It's not my idea of fun spending a week soaked to the skin.
Fingers crossed you get a better week!

Re: Camera Tripod Advice

Thanks for all the advice.

I've gone for a cheap tripod off eBay. Just over 400g. Seems pretty good to a beginner's eyes.
I'll bear in mind all the advice as I get more experienced.

Re: Halloo from California

Hello All! I'm Deb and I'll be solo dventuring in the Outer Hebrides for 3.5 weeks in May-early June. Spending a week each on Lewis (Tunga to explore East Coast), Harris (Aird a' Mhulaidh), and the Uists (Daliburgh, so I can easily get to Eriskay, Barra, and Vatersay). I wind up the trip with 3 day...
