Re: Crampons/ice axe

Modern flexable crampons are just that....flexable. I've even managed to fit and use a pair of Monta Rosas on my Inov8 trail trainers, I'm sure Phil Turner has managed this as well. Not suggesting this would be suitable for long term use or on complex terrain but it goes to show actually how flexabl...

Re: hiking boots vs backpacking boots

As soon as the snow's gone it's back to the Trail shoes (Inov8 Terroc 330's). The 'need' for heavy "supportive" boots (outwith climbing with crampons) is a myth promoted by the boot industry. Worse are boots/ shoes with Goretex liners which only serves to keep the water in and stop them d...

Berghaus Paclite will be fine for WHW. Heavier jackets have a more robust face fabric so cope better with being scraped against rocks and so forth, but the Paclite is just as weatherproof. I've been using one as my spring to autumn waterproof for over 3 years now and it has coped with pretty much e...

Benin a'ghlo

Hey I'm planning on doing this tomorrow. Not really too sure where to head for once in Blair Athol. Is there a landmark anyone could suggest that would most likely be on a sat nav?
