Re: Hill fitness

I walk at a brisk pace 3.5 mph on flat and had a heart scan in summer for something else, heart in perfect working order. Can change route with dog to include a small hill. Stairs is noted and will give a go. I find I have no appetite in morning so normally head off with only a bit of toast and on r...

Hill fitness

I'm sure this has been covered before but a quick search yields no results. I love hillwalking but struggle really badly when things start to get slightly steeper.heart rate rockets and run out of breath so much that I have to stop every 50 metres or so. 48 years old, not really overweight, walk dio...

Re: New kingshouse prices

Probably no more expensive than the Bridge of Orchy hotel.
Sure it will be hard to get a room even at that price as it's no different to hotels in all the popular walking areas charging inflated prices.

Re: Sgor Gaoith

Lovely walk ,shame you missed out on the great views.Where you following the WH route as it cuts off the path and heads directly uphill shortening the walk by 1/2 mile rather than following the path up on to the plateau towards Carn ban mor. Confused me for a minute but I preferred sticking to the p...

Re: Visitor Tax

I imagine most of Europe charge a visitor tax, i Italy its slightly fairer as it's based on a euro per star. A visitor tax here would probably go un noticed as per Europe after the initial furore. Problem with the beautiful parts of Scotland with all the hills is supply and demand meaning we get roa...

Re: Visitor Tax

Air bnb have there own tax, they add on 10-15% on top of what the owner charges .If searching on air bnb find accommodation once you see something you like Google it and book direct with the owner .owner will be 3% better off and you will be at least 10% better off.just a wè tip

Monadhliath 3 munros

Hi.just trying to plan this Saturdays walk and looking at the Monadhliath 3 munros. Have read most of the more recent reports and see one mentions sheep on plateau and another meeting stalkers. Will have my dog with me so don't want her on lead for 15 miles , anyone shed some light if there is defin...
