Its 4 years since I was last there. There was a sign about sleeping in the car park but overnight parking shouldn't upset anyone. :D

Re: Car park closures Glencoe

Got a bit more info on this. Only the 2 big car parks opposite the 3 sisters are affected at the moment. There is going to be no charge when the car parks reopen. There is going to be no policing of the car parks initially and they expect folk to stick to the rules... The NTS did a survey a while ba...

Re: Car park closures Glencoe

They rumour is they are going to monitor it by introducing hefty parking charges, I don't have the full details but they may be implemented in car parks from Altnafeadh to the village. There was a survey done but not sure who they asked, It certainly wasn't highlighted on WH. Not so long ago in resp...

Re: Explosion near miss at Corrour Bothy

I've witnessed several gas cylinder incidents on campsites over the years. The most spectacular was a whole old fashioned Scout tent going up at the Old Dungeon Ghyll campsite back in the 90s. We saw the mushroom cloud from the other side of the field, ran over and rolled up their groundsheet to pu...

Re: Left behind and thrown away rubbish.

I don't think it is an attack on motorists, just having a go at folk throwing things from cars which is fair game and it's a real issue. If you ever travel alongside major roads and even minor roads on foot or bike it is really noticeable. In urban areas it is probably dealt with better but still a ...

Re: we were privileged to be there

Nice one, a great place to visit. The sculptures haven't been knocked over by the weather, I believe the forestry have cut them down for safety. I have visited a few times. Apparently it was Frank Bruce's wishes that they should be allowed to decay, go back to nature. I guess everything will go back...

Re: Grahams and Fionas!

I never understand this idea that hills being near-deserted is good (or if I do, it always feels quite elitist). Apart from perhaps the mega-busy ones (Snowdon, the Ben, Scafell Pike etc) it's surely good to see folk getting out. Are people saying that if they go up, say, Ben Lawers on a nice weeke...
