Thanks very much for all these brilliant suggestions and its great to get advice from folk who are more experienced in these matters. I am certainly going to take all those ideas on board and will deffo return to this topic to let you know how it went - and confirm the agony of the trek up the scree...

Thanks Rocket Ron. We had considered that but part of this trip is to get a bit of experience of wild camping etc to prepare for even longer expeditions.

I'm going on my first 2 day expedition next week which involves a night of wild camping in the Cairngorms. Cous cous is another great option. It's cheap, light, nutritious and only requires a small amount of water to prepare.

some great photos there.
I did those including 4 others on my route last 'summer'. I didn't see much as the whole round was done in very thick misty conditions. You had incredible weather by the looks of it!

Garmin Etrex GPS 12 Channel

Hi I've just acquired an Etrex 12 Channel GPS. It has been a steep learning curve getting to know how it operates and accessing / downloading the Walkhighland's GPS Planner but I'm getting there! I need to source a compatible PC adaptor cable that wasn't included when I was given the GPS by a friend...
