Re: 214 the perfect Place to end

Well done TFW a great effort and achievement after the last 2 years or so   Despite the moans, groans, and bitching following in my wake it has been an enjoyable - if not sometimes fraught - journey even on the many not so good days that we have been through. :-D 8) You've got to keep go...

A climb into Wandhope's Addacomb Hole.

Addacomb Hole route.gpx Chris and I have had some on-line dialogue about his intentions regarding No. 214 and he has decided that it would be sometime this month, October; however a couple of walks to loosen up beforehand seemed to be an appropriate requirement and check on how things are working. ...

A circular walk around the base of Grange Fell.

A walk from Derwent Water.gpx The intention today was to climb Hart Side but as the clouds were low on the fells today a lower though slightly longer walk was done around the circumference of Grange Fell/Brund Fell’s base taking in a variety of roads, lanes, and paths with most of the ascent being ...

Re: Bannisdale Horseshoe, Shap Fells.

Another good report and walk martin.h  and fortunately the weather held up for you :) Your route is more or less identical to ours that we did a few years ago only we set off from Dryhowe Bridge where there's a small parking area and climbed the east slope to Todd Fell summit from there. If yo...

Conic Hill, and a stairway through the clouds.

Conic Hill route.gpx Conic Hill, a small hill and seemingly of no consequence whatsoever, but nevertheless it is one of those hills – like Cat Bells and Latrigg in the Lake District – that seems to draw large numbers of walkers to its modest heights, no doubt for its famed views of Loch Lomond’s so...

Beinn Ime with our heads in the clouds.

Beinn Ime route.gpx Our second visit to Scotland inside a couple of months saw us staying at the same Premier Inn as last time at Dumbarton calling first at Leversgrove Park where we had a stroll about in the sunshine that had followed the rain showers that we had chased into Scotland. Re: We'll make it up as we go along, another Howgill wander.

Another good round of some of the Howgill Fells where the choice of quiet routes are endless  Maybe the lack of paths shown on the map discourage many people from walking in that neck of the woods

Re: 3 Sassenachs and an ex-pat visit Scotland.

Hi trailmasher If it wasn't for the heading I would have guessed that you had posted this report in the wrong place  I'm glad the weather improved for you when you took on Ben Lomond ( I was going to be smart and ask if you needed oxygen on the higher slopes but I won't do that  ). Enjoy...

3 Sassenachs and an ex-pat visit Scotland.

Elizabeth, the ex-pat, had never been to Kircudbright and for the last few months had been voicing her wish to go there, but of course it was an impossible wish whilst Covid was still hanging around and until the rules had been eased somewhat by Boris and co with Nicola following suit with her own s...

Re: A military road, Bronze Age cairn and too hot to trot.

Thanks for your reply Liz2018 and info. Sorry that you had a problem with access and it's something that I have never come across on that route and I have been that way a few times in the past. I have never been challenged by any farmers even whilst speaking to them. Maybe it's something to do with ...

Another good report JK with the usual great pics to record the event  E and I did a similar walk a few years back but having done Harrop and Grey a few times we dropped off from Lord's Seat, had a break at Crookdale Fold then climbed out via Lawyer's Brow and from there did the exact same rout...
