Re: Maps

If not logged in, you get the Walkhighlands version mapping (which is based off OS data). This is as it has always been.

If you are logged in, you get OS 1:50k and OS 1:25k - which was a new feature as of last month (before then there was no OS 1:50k, just our version).

Re: Fan Y Big

Apologies. We've completely rewritten all the code and changed the database used for our hill lists. Fan Y Big used to be a Hewitt until 2018, and as part of the change a couple of days back it got brought back. This was an error, and it's now gone again. This might have affected other deleted hills...

Re: Right-Click Images... okay... BUT.

I've been working on simplifying the code across the site - the right click thing has always been on the rest of Walkhighlands. The idea is not to prevent downloading images, but to prevent people saying they weren't aware that they shouldn't do so. However it shouldn't really run on the forum and w...

Re: Viewranger

Sadly Viewranger have closed down their premium routes, which included Walkhighlands routes, all of which have been deleted except for people who had bought them already. We are currently talking to the company that has bought out Viewranger and others about trying to come up with another solution f...

Re: ViewRanger

Sadly Viewranger have recently closed down their premium routes. At present there is no means to get Walkhighlands route descriptions offline. We are currently talking to the company that has bought out Viewranger and others about trying to come up with another solution for this - which might be ano...

Re: User reports

It's definitely me that breaks things!

That should be OK now. There's lots of work going on, but hopefully not on the forum.

Re: User reports

Alot of the code on Walkhighlands is currently being rewritten to work faster especially on mobiles. The temporary issue with the user reports on walks should have been fixed a short while ago. I can't replicate an issue with the Torridon walks page list, and am hoping that is historic too. Could yo...

Re: New covid restrictions

The latest posts suggesting it is fine to break coronavirus restrictions, or that the pandemic isn't real, have been removed and warnings sent.

We're now closing the thread.

Re: Forum time

I've always thought it very odd that everyone has their own time settings on the forum too. :wtf: Usually I run a batch update of everyone's account to turn summer time on or off, but hadn't done it this time - have now just done it (so everyone now on winter time, regardless of whether you've set i...

Re: Spelling

Hi Rob, not trivial at all. We try to use latest OS spellings as the source for our spellings generally, so you could check there, though even then you'll get into problems (e.g. it's Sgurr Mhor on 1:25k OS maps and Sgurr Mor on 1:50k), most of your examples they have used both spellings in differen...
