Re: WHW Loch Lomond Campsites

There wasn't a sign last year, but you pass the lodge and there's a gate. After that it's fine I believe. It's pretty obvious where people have been camping after this point, flat patches of grass, wee fire pits etc

Re: WHW Loch Lomond Campsites

Yip there are little clearings in the woods to the Loch lomond side of the path not long after the lodge. This is where I camped doing the way.
There's also the bothy if it's wet or you just can't be bothered putting a tent up, its not far along from the lodge.

Re: West Highland Way - Boots or Shoes?

Really all depends on personal preference and experience. Alex, I carried my full gear when I did the whw in shoes. Didn't feel the need for boots at any point even given the extra weight. My pack was about 14kg and I'm just a 10st lassie so was decent weight for my size. Bonzo, I've been over on my...

Re: Ian McNeilage (R.I.P)

Found the same photo and poem on Stuchd an Lochain a few months back as well. There was a stone that had been painted red on top of the stones that covered the sheet. Noticed the red stone, then saw the bit o laminate. I read it then hide it back in the cairn. Seemed discrete enough.

Re: How remote is Glen Doll..?

Took me bang on 2 hours from Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago. If that's any help? :D That's not hanging about! Always seems to take at least 2 hours 15 from here (south Edinburgh). I'm Dalkeith, so also south edinburgh. But straight onto the bypass and I love the challenge of a single track road. I...

Re: Looking to join a walking group

Forgot to add. I'm from just outside edinburgh and tend to get out a few times a month. If I've managed to make a plan early enough I put it up on the meet up board, incase anyone fancies coming with me :D If agree with gill, in that being out with bigger groups and being out of the planning stage c...

Hi Stan. I've just joined the meet up edinburgh hill walkers group and there all a lovely bunch, just go to the meet up site, then edinburgh hillwalkers.
Just did the cairnwell three and had a great laugh with them. Think next ones in 2 weeks time.

Re: Cape Wrath trail guidebook picture

Ye, defo best to ask permission. Though I'm sure if it's for a tattoo the laws a bit hazy. I know plenty folks with micky mouse who didn't ask Disney, hehehe
