Craigmonie and Dhivach Falls

Really nice winter walk with Moira, good paths, nice varied route. Lovely woodland and quite a lot of water in the falls. Great and rainy but still got treated to some lovely views.
Will go back and explore more

Ben Aigen from Fiddich Park

Lovely walk with Juliet. Forecast was not good but we missed the rain. A bit grey but lovely to get out. Coffee stop at the view point. A cold wind at the top but some visibility, bit boggy in places on the way down. Really enjoyed it

Abriachan Trails

This was a great walk with Rosemary, rained just about the whole time, snow on the top and cloud meant we couldn't see much but we thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. Left the walking pole in the car which was a pain because it would have been useful. Path is good throughout but it was a bit slippy in pla...

Geal-Charn Mor From Lynwelg

Good day with Moira. Nice circuit, cloud on the top so no views, pretty wet and boggy on the way down but views open up beautifully. Nice walk to keep you getting out on the hill.

Loch Affric Circuit

Fab day out with Jo. Glorious autumn day with autumn colours. Rain showers gave us lots of rainbows. Golden Eagle. Burn was in spate and difficult to cross - walking pole a must for this. Other than that a straightforward walk on good clear paths. Lots of water in the river. Scots Pine are magnifice...

Inverfarigaig and Falls of Foyer

Lovely walk with Rosemary but a lot longer than stated in the walk description. We had two short detours and walked just over 12 miles not 6.5. We were out 5.5 hours but that included a couple of short stops. Written directions for this walk are not very good and it isn't very well sign posted. View...

Mullach Clach a blair

Beautiful sunny day in Glen Feshie, almost a frosty start. Long walk in along the glen and track up the hill. Path badly eroded in places but good paths in their place. A bit tricky crossing Alllt Garbhlach, it's now pretty steep and slippy in places. Lovely walk through the woods. Turn left up the ...

Corryhabbie Hill Glen Rinnes

Really lovely sunny warm day out with Juliet. Found the start ok but the written instructions for this walk on walk highlands are not good. We relied on Viewranger which was brilliant. First gate took us through a field full of cows, straight across to second gate and then to the left of the pine tr...

Tomintoul Spur: Auldich to Tomintoul

Great day out with Juliet, Millie loved it. This is a fine walk. Weather was good. Decided to start from Auldich. Lovely views from the moors. The short section of gorse was overgrown and a bit difficult to negotiate. Glen Livet are obviously doing a lot of work upgrading and fencing paths. Nice var...

Mount Keen by Glen Tanar

Decided to spend less time driving and more time walking so took the Glen Tamar route - it's also much prettier. Parked at the Estate car park - £3 charge for cars. Took the mountain bike which was a good move. The Glen is very pretty forest and River Tamar is lovely but it is a long hike in - 7km. ...

Carn na Caim and A'Bhuidheanach Behag, Drumochter

Beautiful day bright and sunny. Park next to the A9 layby 87 - glad I got there early as there were a lot of cars later finding it difficult to park. Cross the A9 to the walk, it's a landrover track most of the way. I decided to do A'Bhuidheanach Bheag first. Used the clear easy conditions to practi...

Meall Fuar-mhonaidh

Only just over an hour's drive away. Easy to find and room to park. Nice walk in through the woods and then out on to moorland. the path is clear. High stile to get over but the dog could get under the fence no problem. No sheep about. Path gets progressively less distinct and it is very boggy and q...

Creagan a chaise and Carn A Ghille Charr Cromdale Hills

Did the two summits with Matt and Jess, fine sunny day so we could see where we were going today. Not too boggy on the top, would imagine it's bad in winter. Lovely views. Straightforward walk

Creagan a chaise

This is a nice walk, good place to park next to the outdoor centre. A few sheep about lower down and cattle in the field on the way back but not a problem. A nice steady hill walk with a clear path to the first cairn. I'm sure views would be lovely but shrouded in cloud when I was there and visibili...

Carn an Fhreiceadain from Kingussie

Really nice straightforward walk and hill. Good track all the way round so easy to follow. Woodland and moorland. A good steady climb and some lovely views. Managed grouse moor so lots of grouse around. Mountain hares. Tried this one in March but too much ice around. Good one for getting fit again a...
