Re: Easterly Toppings of Aonach Mor

That looks a great route. I've had a look at that top recently and fancy giving it a go. 8)
I walked the full length of the downhill a couple of years back and that was bad enough. I doubt if I would survive it on a bike.

Re: Cairngorms ideas for routes

The ski car park is over 600 metres in elevation. On a nice day from there to the summit of Cairngorm via the windy ridge is not much harder than doing Meall a Buachaille. Cairngorm is the 6th highest mountain in the UK with great views. You also can visit the ptarmigan restaurant and shop near the ...

Re: An Sgurr - Eigg sunny side up

You got some really good pictures there. Eigg is one of my favourite islands and the Sgurr is a great hill. We got the ferry from Mallaig a few years back in fairly rough weather it was touch and go if the ferry was going to sail I think. It was quite entertaining watching the cars on the ferry wait...

Re: Dalwhinnie to Spean Bridge over 3 days

Great stuff Malky. That looks like a cracking but big route as already mentioned. I have been looking recently at doing something similar but getting the bus to Spean Bridge then the train to Corrour. Walk from Corrour to Dalwhinnie then train home and maybe I will leave out the munros and corbetts ...

Re: Our last Munro's of 2016- such a perfect day.

Great pictures there martin. Looks like a cracking day too. A couple of months ago I walked from Linn of Dee to Aviemore station and went over Carn a Mhaim summit. I cut down on to the Lairig Ghru path after the ridge. Your walk looks to be about the same length but with a fair bit of extra ascent u...

Re: Ben Nevis on the Carn Dearg route - Mid October

Here's a report from last year when I went up from the Glen Nevis end of road car park via the Carn Dearg south west top. It has fine views. There is no scrambling but it is extremely steep and careful navigation is required in poor visibility. It is this part of the hill where many people wander in...

Re: ideas for a few days in Oban in October

Beinn Lora is a great suggestion. Also Mull. The ferry to Mull takes about 45 mins and is about £7 return for a foot passenger and £26 return for the car. Mull would be my first choice even if you dont have the car. A great place to visit :D

Re: Ben Macdui & Cairn Gorm from the North an excellent walk

Nice one Rod. Looks like a cracking day. I prefer the Aviemore side for accesss to the Cairngorms. Im not keen on the caravan club campsite at Braemar or any of them for that matter. :D. Better bars in Aviemore too if your into that sort of thing. Fairly easy access from the ski carpark to the big t...

Also at Loch Lochy on the A82 a wee wild boar ran off the hill and under my car.

Re: Cable car incident in the Alps!

I've done that cable car trip - up from Chamonix to the Aiguille Midi at 3800m , horizontally across the massif to the Italian side of Mont Blanc and down another cable lift to Courmayeur. It was a spectacular trip for me, but it must have been absolutely terrifying being stranded for so long, dang...

Re: Piles of Stones

I came across this last week in a fantastic location in the alps. Seems like the French are in to it too. 20160912_142229.jpg This information was attached explaining the display. 20160912_142221.jpg I'm thinking the "landowner" whoever it maybe, is in favour of this and if you knoc...
