Re: Really unfit -tips for training for Munro Walk on 12th J

.... the boggiest bit you will face all day is the field next to the car park at the start of the walk. Top tip  don't go over the stile. Go through/over the gate at the end of the layby. Then there is a faint track turning right over a little hump heading for the underpass. Its still a littl...

Re: hiking vs mountaineering boots

I just had GO confirm the price match for my Mrs ... £54 is an absolute bargain. And what's more amazing is our local GO actually has the item in stock ... that's a first for me  I really do apologise for hi-jacking the thread and being OT ... but ... Just back from GoOutdoors ... got the boo...

Re: hiking vs mountaineering boots

Scarpa Manta are a great winter/allround boot and they are on offer from £250 RRP to £110 in the sale at Rock and Run!!! Amazing price, never leak either. Worth buying to have spare at that price!! Chris I just picked a pair of the above, using Go Outdoor's Price Match (plus 10%) offer. £99 ...

Re: Meall Corranaich & Meall a'Choire Leith

Good going, 3 hours for this round! These hills give great views towards their impressive neighbours, another good reason to climb them. Love the picture of the lightly dusted An Stuc! :D Thanks :) The views across the rest of the range were stunning. I hadn't realised my time until I was back at t...

Re: Beinn a' Ghlo, Glen Tilt & Glen Bruar Munro's

Impressive stuff, that's a big day out.

I've already done Beinn a'Ghlo, but you've inspired me to combine Beinn Dearg and Carn a'Chlamain into a single outing. I'll be adding that to my to-do list. Thanks for the insipritation :D

Re: Lawers lunch

I like your photographs, they've really captured the ambience of the day. I was on Meall Corranaich today and could see a few people on the way up Ghlas ... it might have been yourselves :)

My views across to Ghlas and Lawers were great today, so its good to see it from the other side in your pics.

Meall Corranaich & Meall a'Choire Leith

I bagged the rest of the Lawers range last year, but I was never in a hurry to get these two. A lot of the reports really highlight the hellish boggy conditions, but I didn't think it was that bad. On the return leg I kept expecting the worst around every corner ... but before I knew it I was back o...

Re: allermuir, culter fell, dogs and cattle

I don't know about Allermuir, but there was only sheep on the ascent of Culter Fell when I was there in February.

Re: Beinn Chabhair in the April Sunshine

Eerie timing with your post. I was just home from doing Beinn Chabhair this morning and ticking off that blue balloon when I saw your post. The trek from Beinglas to the ridge doesn't sound much fun at all. It's a shame the bog fest detracted from your day, but at least you had great weather! I'm su...
