A'Ghlas-bheinn

A second solo walk of the weekend. Nice breakfast at B&B in Inverinate. Very close to start so was on my way by 8am. It was warm and humid for the first couple of hours so I was somewh'Mhucchhat relieved to get some breeze part way up the valley. The river crossing on the Allt a'Choire Chaoil wa...

A'Chralaig and Mullach Fraoch-choire

After 5 days of rain and strong winds at Attadale I decided to stay on in a B&B over the weekend to try to snatch a couple more days of Munro bagging. So this was a solo venture. Headed to Cluanie with breakfast in the bakery at the Inn before setting off on this walk at about 8.30. Kind of miss...

Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a'Chaorachain

1st day at Attadale 2022. Lovely weather, sunny, not too hot and not much wind. 5 of us set off at about 8.45 from Achnashellach Forest car park at Craig. M turned back after a couple of km on the bike. It was push, push and more pushing for the first 3 km, then downhill to the start of the walk wit...

Mullach Clach a'Bhlair

Walked this on the Linlithgow Ramblers superspreader event from Aviemore. Did it as an individual day out rather than a led walk. Went with Moira (who came up for the day) and Liz Jolly. Too much chat at the start meant that we went up beside the Allt Fhearnagan which is the most northerly burn and ...

Sgor Gaoith from Glen Feshie

First solo outing of 2022. A good one to try out OutdoorActive and the GPS again. Followed the walk highlands route to the summit, crossing a few burns on the way, the last one needing to search out an easier crossing place as the burns were bubbling fast with snow melt. The grassy slope up to the p...

Creag Mhor

With Moira on a lovely fine day, light breeze, not too hot or too cold. Long walk in from the car park. Only saw one woman at car park who was using e-bike and had dog. Saw her later on CM, think she turned back. Said she normally used oxygen, had a locator beacon. Saw 2 blokes 'on a mission'. We we...

Meall Dearg from the North

1st Munro of 2022; 1st since concussion 8 months ago! Small independent group: Moira, Sue L, Billy, Derek J; good weather; chilly wind. This route avoids having to do it via the AE ridge. A long drive (by Derek) but well worth the early start. Fabulous views.

Beinn Each

Lovely Linlithgow Ramblers walk on a super 'spring' day - turned out more like summer. Very warm ascent, no wind. 17 of us. Initially organised by Moira, led by Sue - brownie and tablet provider and Derek J (leader). Nice steady pace. Lovely company and great views if somewhat murky.

Ben Ledi on shortest day

I have done this hill several times before. Indeed it was my first 'proper' mountain walk after joining Ramblers in 2009, I've been up it with Balerno Ramblers and with Linlithgow Ramblers (very windy conditions with some snow on summit). Last time my PF was still bad so did less than half. This tim...

Meall Glas

A fairly last minute decision to head out and do this hill after a couple of weeks of very unsettled (potentially thundery) weather. Mainly for that reason I decided to go it alone. Got a bit ahead of my planned timings and was walking by 8.30. That meant I was on the summit by about 11.15 - it rath...

Fiddler Bike/Hike

What a day. Another crazy day... Here's Niccy's take on it. "5 Munro baggers planned to tick 2 more. Niccy got a sickness bug, then there were four. Four Munro baggers set off from Linn of Dee. Chris lost a pedal, then there were three. Three Munro baggers enjoying the lovely view. Moira’s sadd...
