Re: Hi... Advice for the three peaks of Uist

Jim, might be an idea to also post this question on the South Uist/Uibhist a Deas Appreciation Society page on Facebook. The locals in that part of the World should hopefully be able to give you all the info you need. Enjoy your walk :)

Re: Texan to walk the Lothians

The 7 Pentland Hills is an excellent walk and as a bonus it can all be done by public transport. As for the weather, the only predictable thing about our weather is its unpredictability. It could be below zero and snowing or as high as the mid teens centigrade. It could be raining all day or you cou...

Re: last 6 stages of the Cape Wrath Trail

Here's the link to my notes detailing how I went from Ullapool to Cape Wrath. Ullapool - Oykel Bridge - Inchnadamph - Kylestrome - Rhiconich - Blairmore - Cape Wrath. Oykel Bridge hotel was nice but pricey. If the weather's good, you're in for a treat. Some wonderful walking in as wild country as yo...

Re: Water Filters

Thanks for the replies.

Looks like a trip to my nearest Cotswolds to invest in a Sawyer Mini is in order.

Appreciate the feedback.

Water Filters

Any recommendations on good water filters?

I know many think Highland water is pure but I prefer to be safe than sorry.

Thanks.

Re: Scottish National Trail: Stage 4, Ullapool to Cape Wrath

Bjorn, the best tip I can give you is to research, research then research some more. Plenty good links in this section of the website, check them out and also check out http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/scottish-national-trail.shtml As for the weather, it's Scotland. Be prepared for every eventuality. ...

Re: Scottish National Trail: Stage 4, Ullapool to Cape Wrath

Alasdair, congrats on completing the National Trail in one go. Doing it in stages as I did certainly sounds easier! I can only agree with what you say, it is an incredible hike. Can't recommend it enough. That said, I'll always appreciate that I was blessed with good weather, that definitely helped....
