Re: The Allt Garbhlach crossing.

Hello, If it were Wildland who put in the rudimentary bridge over the Allt Garbhlach burn I don't why that they did not put this in the Information sheet at the cairn that has just appeared there recently. The wee bridge over the burn has been there for the most part of the summer. Well at least we ...

Apologies.

The Allt Garbhlach crossing.

A sign has appeared at the start of the old path to the crossing upstream of the one destroyed.

Re: Is The Red House to Glen Feshie route "cyclable"?

Summers-Lad wrote....but crossing the river at the next ford below the photo where the main track goes gives an easy cycle cycle down the rest of the glen on the West side.

Not always an easy crossing ....seen from the West side in Spring 2009.

Re: Is The Red House to Glen Feshie route "cyclable"?

In June '89 I had a day out on the Muddy Fox bike.....Kincraig back to Kincraig...using Feshie trails to up to get up to.912 Corbett, Minigaig Pass, Bruar Lodge, Old Blair, Glen Tilt, Bynack Lodge, Glen Geldie and down Feshie. Travelled light no camping stuff etc. Seem to recall that the area of the...

Re: Question: Skye trail alternative route

This question is a hardy annual. :) Although I have not walked the Skye Trail I am familiar with much of what happens in the area that your question poses. The Harvey map that I have for the Cuillin shows the variations that can be used when walking the trail. The map shows the trail going over Bla ...

Re: Walk the Lairig Ghru and continue to Glen Feshie

That path in upper Glen Feshie is now under the scree although a path has now been worn into the stones. It comes and goes according to the amount of further stone slides from above. Just a short distance to push the bike over if that is how you are travelling. The alternative river crossing and re-...

Re: Access from Dalwhinnie station

Take a bike and park up at the organised park beside the crossing and cycle around to the under pass area
Done this a couple of times now. I agree with not inconveniencing the folks prior to the underpass.
Cycle and leave bike where it suits you.

Re: The Cobbler (with Punster's Crack)

This report had me thumbing back through the archives, well my old 'days out on the hills book', to check back to when the Cobbler was visited. A couple of days in 1963 and in 1964. We obviously missed out on a good route with your images and description of the Punster's Crack. :) Our visits go back...

Re: Sgurr Na Stri from Loch Coruisk

I would suggest that the Harvey maps with both scales 1:25,000 and on the other side 1:12,500 will show you the path of approach from where the boat will drop folks off to show clearly the variant of the Skye trail that will take you to a point where you can safely get to the top of the hill. Have u...

Re: Ben Macdui and the Lairig Ghru

I am sure that you will enjoy a visit to the Eastern big hills. We have had a few visits to the area. Once, using the bikes to get to the wee shelter hut in Glen Avon, where we left the bikes, and up to the high ground for a grand day visit...younger in those days on the old Muddy Fox bikes. :) We h...

Re: Ben Macdui and the Lairig Ghru

Nice trip Richard. Now you are extending your knowledge of the Cairngorms. I know that you are a big fan of Glen Feshie and the hills above. Further East during another camping visit? :)

Re: Possible camping spots - Fannaichs

The only time that I have been to visit these hills, feels like in another lifetime, we walked-up from the loch beside the road on a path to camp at Loch a' Mhadaidh on a summer evening. Good access to all of the hills. :)

Re: Call the police - South Loch Laggan 3 with bike

Phew...I thought that I was about to hear about a stolen off road bike. :)
I also see that Geal Charn has been given a new name....Sron Garbh. Well I guess that there are too many hills with that Geal Charn label. :)
