Re: Boots Question

My workboots did the same thing. The only cure was to wear them in and wear long socks that would slip down and bunch up at the top of the boot.

Re: A bit of a rant

I haven't walked the Glencoe ski resort so can't really comment on it but I can tell you that the Glenshee ski center and in particular the Cairnwell is much, much tidier and better kept than it used to be. 20 years ago the area was littered with all sorts of detritis from twisted rusting metal to o...

Re: So... I did my first munro in 2 and a half years...

Again, thanks for the well wishes folks. :D It's a bit of a relief to finally hit the hills again. I must confess to wondering if I would ever get out again a number of times. :?

Also, thanks for the comments on the pics.

Re: A Munro failure at our first attempt...sigh.

Although I completely understand why, it's a shame you didn't keep going for An Socach as it's a very straightforward walk in good visibility.

Re: So... I did my first munro in 2 and a half years...

Some of those pictures look like buildings/vehicles on a minature village, some great arty stuff there. Thanks. I'm glad someone agrees. Interesting to hear the building is alarmed, though I'd imagine it would take ATS a while to get up there and do anything about it  That's what I thoug...

So... I did my first munro in 2 and a half years...

Those with a long memory will remember I pranged the tendons in both legs through (a) stupidity (b) over tightening crampon straps. Long story short - it has taken two and a half years to heal (hopefully properly) and yesterday was my first (second and third) munro since the initial injury. I opted ...

Re: Technical performance 3 season boot from Regatta, anyone

I particularly like the black version in the picture, maybe a little too much stitching in the upper, but at last a decent vibram sole that has to be far grippier than the woeful contra-grip compound Salomon have on offer. They couldn't be worse than the Salomon's frightening lack of grip, that's f...

Re: Waterproof iPhone Covers

I bought a Proporta The BeachBuoy Waterproof Case for my phone (not an iphone) but it's huge by comparison - about A5, so not very practical imo. You can however, submerge it in water, something I had to test out. 8) Now my phone goes in a 6 x 4 ziplock bag which you can buy off ebay in packs of 100...

Re: Beaten back by the cold on Ben Vrackie

With regard to the "rocking stone" above Dunkeld, it used to rock , but some health and safety killjoy from the council decided it was a risk and stones were jammed underneath to stop the rocking. Ah, that explains it. Cheers. Vrackie is a great hill in the under winter conditio...
