Another wee update, after a week in Sutherland I think I can say problem gone.
Quinag, Ben Stack, Arkle, Foinaven and the steps down to Smoo cave all conquered without the slightest twinge.

Start shoving it into your kestrel (oo er) and see whats left. My clothes were in a compression sack, and packed trangia full of food. Tent poles strapped to side of rucksack and waterproofs were in the stretchy pocket on back. I also used my kestrel as a winter daypack, but always had plenty room. ...

I did 3 days last week on my own with a 38 litre rucksack. Was a squeeze but managed it all. This app refused to work on quinag yesterday, and ben stack today.
Doesnt seem to want to work without wifi, which if you have access to you probably already have a reasonable idea where you are!
Been using gridpoint gb instead which seems to work pretty well.
