I was sold on this report from the first photo. Brilliant!

Re: Is it possible? Beinn Fhionnlaidh

Dunni We are planning a circular route from Alltbeithe hostel mid-May via Carn Eighe to Beinn Fhionnlaidh accross the Gleann a' Chailich (as spelt on the Harvey XT40 map) onto Mullach na Dheiragain then up to Sgurr nan Ceathreamhan and down to the hostel. The intent is to cross the river by as direc...

Re: Access to Beinn Sgrithall from Northeast

Much appreciated.
Hopefully we'll get to check it out in May.

Kind regards

Re: An Teallach and Fisherfield, Sun, Inversions, Aurora, Ro

Euan That's a great report and fascinating on the geology. I'd love to do the Fisherfields, taking in MCMF's East ridge, I'm sure you'd appreciate the anomaly of the gneiss sitting on top of quartzite as shown in your map (it's seen in your photo of MCMF with cloud spillingover). We'll do it next ye...

Access to Beinn Sgrithall from Northeast

Does anyone know if the bridge over the Abhainn a Ghlinne Bhig close to the Strath a Chomair woods (at NG866158) has been repaired yet?

Re: Liathach from the north

The scramble referred to in Mark's reply is in SMC Highland scrambles North, it also refers to the North pinnacles route but this is a 'serious and exposed' moderate climb. . I believe there is also a report on this website by Caingormcreepers.

regards

Re: Corbetts that are finer than the nearby Munro

We combined Maol Chean Dearg with Beinn Damph ( An Rudh Stac being too similar to MCD). We wish we had combined Fuar Tholl with Sgorr Ruadh and one day will attempt the Coire Lair round. Am Bathach and Ciste Dubh North of The Cluanie Inn Beinn Sgrithall and Beinn na h-Eaglaise from Arnisdale or Balv...

Re: Glen Torridon Stag posing

Last time I saw Callum he had his head poked in a van window being fed from the driver's hand. Is he still alive?

Re: Raven on Ben Lomond Summit

I always like to meet summit ravens, they seem so inquisitive and are adept at getting food from you. It the same week we were accosted on the Aonach Eagach and the Big Bookle by beautiful specimens.

Re: Glen Elchaig pt 2: The Remote Part(s of Kintail/Mullardo

A very useful report of this remote area, the tops are awkwardly placed and we're hoping to pick them off from the Glen Affric YH in May.

Re: LDWA Membership and Accessing Walk Details

I am a member of the LDWA, and embarrassingly I didn't know anything about this feature. However, the membership is only £15.00 for an individual and £20 for a family. I can recommend the 'competitive' (18, 26,50, 100 miles) and social walks (usually about 18 miles), the latter usually in small grou...

Re: How has hillwalking changed?

Completely randomly I clicked on this old discussion; being ancient I have a tendency to look back with fondness but I think an argument about whether it was better back then or now misses the point. It's what you make it! Now has got to be better; not only can you affect what you are doing now but ...

Re: Skye: Bruach na Frithe

I have a lot of affection for BnF as it was my first Munro. It also taught me how fast the weather can change in the hills, both to the worse and then for the better. The rest of the Black Cullins are still on my to do list despite visiting Skye nearly every year - I travel in hope and will be tryin...

Re: Like a Hurricane

I'm always impressed that you guys keep smiling, no matter what conditions. I particularly like your celebration for Graham round 3 Number 13 (another major milestone??), clinging onto the trig point in a hurricane. Keep up the great work. Isn't the penultimate photo a scene from Close Encounters? J...
