Re: Nearly blown off on my birthday

I know that windy feeling, we were up on Drumochter on Sunday and I was all far packing in by the time we reached the summit of Gael Charn. I was soaked, the clag was down and I couldn't see my mates, just slight ghostly images with voices ahead of me. But then the clag cleared and we at least had s...

Re: What to do in a heatwave? The South Shiel Ridge of cours

Cracking report and excellent photies Mr Dave, I've yet to do these but they are on the definite to do list. Wouldn't fancy hauling up a 15kg pack as well as doing 7 summits so kudos for you and Marley. I'm sure the wee man mountain goat would enjoy them as well, but maybe not in this heat. Did Moun...

Re: Many rivers to cross

Looking at doing this on Sunday, with the recent dry spell I'm hoping that the 8 rivers are no more than short hops across puddles...........

Nice pics looking back at Ben Lui as well...

Re: "Wee Guy" returns to Ime and nails it for his 30th Munro

Congrats again to the wee man / mountain goat (not forgetting Marley of course )..... he's gonna catch me up by next year I reckon. Still to re-visit Ben Ime and I think I might have a look at your route instead of the standard WH route up from Succouth going in between Narnian and The Cobbler.

Re: Wee Guy (now 7) returns after his winter rest! God help

And so the mountain goats adventures start all over again. 28 last year, same again this year or maybe even more if your legs can cope with his requests...... Good to see you out again, we did Vorlich over by Loch Earn yesterday and had a cracking day out. Only one dodgy steep snowfield to cro...

Re: A blowy day in the Cairngorms, with a bit of bog as well

Totally agree Dave the bogs are a nightmare. Hate to think what these would have been like if it had been wet. Maybe a long detour would have been needed...... At least once we were on the plateau there wasn't really much climbing to be done..... Hey Brian...well done you guys! L...

Re: A blowy day in the Cairngorms, with a bit of bog as well

Think I need to hit the gym to keep up with you guys at times. Jings what would I be like if I was ever to go out on the mountains with Rocket Ron..... he'd probably be able to lap me and not break sweat.....

A blowy day in the Cairngorms, with a bit of bog as well....

Wow what a day that was then. Certainly bit off more than I could chew for a January outing, not sure if I'd fancy doing such a big walk again at this time of year. We shall see..... kudos for expert navigator Dave Webb for getting us up and down safely, especially in the last couple of hours of dar...

Re: "WEE GUY" 6 yrs takes on Dorain in 4 foot snow, Munro 28

Oh dear a broken wrist doesn't sound too good.... was he trying to demonstrate his scrambling skills to his mates ....

A broken wrist hasn't stopped Fiona from getting out recently, despite needing an operation so I'm sure Wee Guy will take it all in his stride.....

Re: "WEE GUY" 6 yrs takes on Dorain in 4 foot snow, Munro 28

Once again the Wee Man Mountain Goat completes a munro. 28 in just a few months is amazing going.   More than me this year for sure. Did these 2 when it was a bit icy but no snow and agreed that the Dothaidh is very boggy indeed. But not as boggy or even as steep as Ben Ime. Doesn...

We couldn't even see the ridge to make a decision as to whether we should risk it...... better safe than sorry.

Up to our arses in snow and beyond....

Well the regular gang were keen to get out on a short winter walk, so after a bit of humming and to and fro-ing we selected this relatively short walkout. MWIS was regularly checked as to what we could expect and it was saying upwards of 60% cloud free summits. Ya beauty. Haven't done this route bef...
