Re: Stob Ban & Mullach nan Coirean

Any tips for Devil's Ridge? I'm planning Ring of Steall - probably other way round than WH suggests - to avoid steep drop off Sgurr a Mhaim for the poor old knees

Tipsy on Stob Ban

With two 60th birthdays to celebrate we set our sights on Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean. I liked the look of the ridge between the two when I was up the Mullach in 1997 so was keen to get up there again. We decided to use the route WH suggests starting at Polldubh where we were so excited to get ...

Re: Glorious weather for the 7 Munro Monster!

Great pics bringing back great memories! Not being so young and fit I did the ridge in two sections. The first 4 were on a glorious day but for the last 3 we had cloud and rain. Not sure if that's what made it a harder day or that my knee was sore on the descent. I remember heaving myself up a verti...

Re: Beinn Chabhair - wrong turns and waterfalls

Enjoyed reading this after doing the walk yesterday. The waterfall was a lot more spectacular the day you did it!

Re: Beinn Chabhair

Just read yours Pete and agree about that waist high bracken - got mixed up in it around the falls on the way down. Other thing I noticed was how much more water was in waterfall when you were there. No wonder burn was difficult to cross!

Beinn Chabhair

My walking buddy is recovering from a badly broken ankle (which involved being air lifted from remote spot in Cairngorms - that's another story) and felt 18k climbing Sgurr Thuilm (which we did recently) was a bit far at this stage in its recovery. So why we agreed to climb Beinn Chabhair yesterday ...

Re: Just The Forcan Ridge, the Saddle + Sgurr na Sgine.

Re: Four more at Strathfarrar on a Stunning Day...

For all sorts of reasons we have the odd distinction of doing each of the Strathfarrars on separate days - so it's great to see them all linked up. Glad you got such a good day for it!

Re: A'Chralaig & Mullach Fraoch-Choire

Now there's an idea...! But it's a bit late for that now as that walk was back in 2008 :D

Re: Beinn Alligin

Think I'll need to ration myself to only coming on here once a day. It's when you start reading everyone else's reports it starts to feel a bit serious! :)

Re: My 100th with a little help from the two Herdsmen of Etive

These photos are AMAZING!

I was up there last August on a duller day weather-wise so it's good to see what it might have looked like! :D

Dogs on the Pinnacles

My hill walking buddy Moira decided this would be a good duo for me to get my 100th munro. But since joining on here I've discovered 3 of my munros have been demoted since I did them - so it wasn't my 100th but that was the mentality with which we climbed them and a brilliant choice it was too! Left...

Re: Carn a'Mhaim, Ben Macdui, Derry Cairngorm

Great photos and enjoyed video!

Reminded me of when we got caught in thunder storm on top of Carn a' Mhaim. Tess (lab supposedly from gun dog stock) is so frightened of loud bangs she walked literally under my feet - a weird feeling when surrounded by miles of empty space!

Re: Beinn Alligin

"Was a bit concerned as I was reading it when I seen you had your two dogs with you, regarding how you would get on with the 'horns'. Good job you met those walkers or had you already decided not to tackle them?" We had already decided not to do the horns. The dogs are pretty nimble but I...

Beinn Alligin

This is first walk report so a bit tentative... First serious hill this year so lack of level walk in let me know how unfit I was - but the views of Loch Torridon gave a good excuse for regular photo stops! DSC01680-large-small.jpg Followed path up to Coir nan Laogh DSC01682-large-small.jpg The horn...
