Re: An Socach - current state of Baddoch Burn crossings

This is a walk I was hoping to do this winter, but wasn't sure I'd be able to after the New year flood damage to the bridge. Thanks for reporting on the current state of the crossings, very useful information for me. Glad to help. Hopefully the repairs will be finished soon and you won't be faced w...

Re: Glenshee Three - 11 hours of snow wading pays off :)

Good report and pics there  Is the road up to Glen Shee ok to approach from the south at the moment? Thanks mamoset. Amazing what pics a mere iPhone can do. The road was fine. I came down from Braemar early that day and it was clear, the gritters seem to be pretty active at all hours ensuring...

Thanks dogplodder. Never had a man complement my stamina before

An Socach - current state of Baddoch Burn crossings

Greetings, fellow walkers! This is just a brief one which I thought might be useful for informing peeps about the current state of crossings over the Baddoch Burn. Based on GillC's 2013 post of 'An Socach, Munro No. 57, and a wee neighbour'. Thanks. This is what transpired... our_route.gpx Baddoch f...

Glenshee Three - 11 hours of snow wading pays off :)

Greetings fellow walkers! This is a walk I did based loosely on the quoman's 'Dawn Till Dusk' post from 2012. Felt there's wasn't quite long enough at 27.25km ( ) so I added a few extra km. It was based on conditions and inability to see any tracks, so had to take a few longer, more cautious r...

Re: Making a meal of Meall Chuaich

Ahh so that's what the top looks like   couldn't see a thing from the summit when I was there. Everyone makes mistakes, but so long as we learn from them it's ok :D Thanks Jaxter. Yeah, the weather gods totally pulled this one out of the bag! (But then repeatedly punished me by forcing me...

Re: Making a meal of Meall Chuaich

Have never quite trusted these dodgy mickey mouse WH maps  but then I have had most of my problems getting to the tops on the approaches. My MM maps show all of the estate tracks which let you astray. :) Glad I'm not the only one gaffe! And MM maps? A quick Ask Jeeves tells me that is 'Map of ...

Making a meal of Meall Chuaich

Greetings, fellow walkers. This is my shameful attempt at 'one of the shorter and more straightforward ascents amongst the Munros'. Pah! The crux: in my nonchalant approach to the start of this final of the Drumochter hills for me, I had failed to notice that I had my map folded for the ascent of Ca...
