Re: Route/s for Charity Challenge

There are good strings of hills over 610m to be had in the Lowthers and Moffat Hills. Easy going over well shorn grassy summits, if not a little boggy in places. A quick look at the donalds map will give you a good idea of how many you could bag in single days.

Re: Fell Running

Like IamAJMiller earlier, I too have two pairs of fairly cheap (30 squid) adidas trainers. Thin soled grippy ones for wet days on hills and a pair of cushioned ones with less grip for dry days/trail runs/road use. I tend to think about taking my small osprey rucksack with a phone, hat, gloves, wind ...

Re: Dogs climbing munros

All good advice here especially the on the lead comment. Not only for the worrying livestock aspect but an active dog like a spaniel will probably do many more miles than its human. ie ten miles to you walking point to point the dog will likely be sniffing this and going ahead coming back, eating th...

Re: A local hill's cry for help

meangarry. I don't like your use of the word "doley". I take it you mean unemployed people receiving benefits. You go on to suggest "Assign a local hill to a local lout." Perhaps you don't mean this but this implies that unemployed people receiving benefits are louts. The allite...

Re: A Winter Search for the Source(s) of the Clyde

I'm sure there is a wee song about the sources of the annan, tweed and clyde all springing from the same hill side? An old chap I know who used to do alot of walking and had a hand in the setting up of the Annandale way told me it was clydes burn NT0012159 that was the source of the clyde. I thought...
