Re: GPS Planner Height Calculations

Thanks - I'll put some more thought into this and hopefully improve further by trying thresholding - without messing up different examples.

Re: GPS Planner Height Calculations

Thanks, hopefully the results are now more sensible / consistent. I'm not certain whether thresholding would improve the GPS planner on here, since it is intended to smooth the jitter/wobble in recorded GPS tracks with frequent points. With our GPS planner you can't look at data recorded from a GPS,...

Re: GPS Planner Height Calculations

Thanks for spotting this and reporting - sorry it's taken so long to look into. There was a problem with the algorithm in that if points were closer than 80m apart then the ascent between those points was incorrectly given as zero - so plotting closer together gave less ascent, or zero if all your p...

Re: User routes?

It isn't possible with the Walkhighlands app, which is specifically for our curated and checked routes.

Re: Can't Download a Walk

Hi Andy, the post above was about using our own Walkhighlands app which natively downloads walks. It sounds like you are not using that, you are using an alternative, the "OS Maps" app and downloading GPX files from Walkhighlands to your phone. We have never changed this but have no contro...

Re: Access from Dalwhinnie station

With a bike, I agree the underpass route is not a problem - but lots of folk don't have a bike (or if they do, a bike rack). It isn't Network Rail that have locked the far platform gate (as I understand it). We'll keep updating when we have more - it's impossible to keep everyone happy with a route ...

Re: Can't Download a Walk

Apologies. This occurs when a phone lost connection and got a corrupted file when downloading - it blocks you downloading again. The fix is to open Chrome browser, and clear history (you don't need to clear passwords etc). This should delete everything downloaded to the app and restore functionality...

Re: App login glitch?

The maps in the app are the Walkhighlands maps which combine Ordnance Survey contours and topography with path data from other datasets. The final zoom level in the app is actually more zoomed in than OS Explorer for additional clarity. Login does not affect this.

Re: App randomly deleting downloaded walks

On Android phones (but not iPhones) the app shares its storage with Chrome, so if you clear the cache in Chrome - or are running another app that may do this - then anything that has been downloaded to the app will also be deleted. If your device storage is full, your phone may also remove data that...

Re: Drawing a route when writing a report

Yes, as sunset tripper says, if you go to our GPS planner, plot your route and then download it, you can then upload the same file to your walk report to get a map as before.

Re: Amazing map. Can an full offline copy be obtained

Thanks. Sorry, I'm afraid this isn't possible - the tech we have used to develop the app can only allow for up to 1GB of local storage on your phone, which is why we have the limit on how many routes can be downloaded at once. The very long stages (e.g. some on the Southern Upland Way) can get up to...

Re: Great app, although I have a little problem.

It sounds like your phone won't let you download routes - you would get a message at the bottom if you do download a route, which is usually pretty fast as long as you have wifi or 4g at the time. Without a downloaded route, the app would only work when you have signal. It's very difficult to know w...
