Re: Dogs and MBA (Bothies)

Well-behaved dogs are not a problem; an undisciplined one will be. In particular a dog that hasn't been taught not to mooch food is not going to be popular. Bear in mind that not everyone is a "dog person" - if it becomes clear you are sharing a bothy with someone who isn't , the onus is ...

Re: Adventure Companies ???

I've been on a few trips with KE and have found them to be very good although they are expensive. I have found the leaders to be excellent and the trips well-organised.

Re: Finding a quiet corner on Skye

Finding a quiet spot anywhere is becoming increasingly difficult during the summer unless you are prepared to walk quite a long way.

Re: Finding a quiet corner on Skye

Since compleating the Munros I have done lots of coastal walks both on the Scottish mainland and on the islands. Not only is the scenery usually spectacular but it is generally very quiet. They are not always easy walks though, often rough and pathless and involving quite a lot of height gain and lo...

Re: Finding a quiet corner on Skye

I did this walk back in April and agree that it is great route. The coast is spectacular and I didn't see anyone until I was walking back up from Macleod's Maidens. The cattle, however, paid me quite close attention but in a very friendly way.

Re: Missing Husky, Kingshouse / Devils Staircase Area.

What about the deer/ :( My thoughts as well, and I bet the deer didn't think the dog was friendly. I think there has been about a dozen or more missing dogs this year, cant believe that people have more sympathy for the owners and dog than the wildlife that it has threatened. There is an interesting ...

Re: Tents

Had my Voyager for nearly 10 years. It has been a fantastic tent. Been all round the world including some quite inhospitable places such as Torres del Paine as well as all over Scotland and it has always stood up to whatever the weather has thrown at it. Expensive but worth every penny.

Re: Ben Mor Coigach - Allt Claonaidh Route

I did this route yesterday. The walk in to the lochan is very straightforward: there is a path all the way although it gets a bit faint and boggy in places and there was a stile over the only fence that I had to negotiate. I found the last part of the climb on to the ridge scary as it was very badly...
