Re: Any hills right now NOT under loads of snow?

For great photos from around Torridon you should check out Steve Carter's Twitter feed. He posts daily photos from his neck of the wood. Just take a look at this stunner from this morning, showing the snow line on Beinn Alligin & Liathach http://stevecarter.com/random/27-3-2013.jpg

More Time Lapse Shenanigans

Following on from the huge success of the Braemar Snow Gate series I pointed my little app at a couple of other webcams. Re: Braemar Snow Gate 2013-03-10

Today's/yesterday's installment. Yesterday the gates opened and stayed open. I'm guessing the ski centre were quite pleased about that. As its getting a bit repetitive I'm planning on doing one over several days so you can see the snow melt.

Re: Did anyone go out yesterday ?

Went for a wee stroll up Scotly Hill here in Banchory on Saturday. Just 5-8 cm on the windward side but 2-3 times that on the lee side - and pretty windy & chilly at the top.

Re: Braemar Snow Gate 2013-03-10

After a few technical problems I have another full day's action from Braemar :) http://vimeo.com/62592339 Loved the views of the Braemar weather. You might like to see the Farson digital Rivercams. There are a few in Scotland. Only problem is not sure how often they reload. They look good (& hav...

Ideally yes - but I don't have access to one so I'd have to rent. I'll probably look into the options & costs when I've finished development.

Re: Braemar Snow Gate

Thanks for all the positive feedback peeps 8) I've been working on making my app multi-threaded so that I can download several webcams at once. It's going well so I'm on the lookout for further suitable webcams. The TrafficScotland ones block direct access to I can't use them. The WinterHighalnd one...

Re: Braemar Snow Gate 2013-03-10

And here is today's [yesterday] installment. It was a much better day Braemar way than further down Deeside where I am. Also watch out for a herd of deer (or possibly sheep) that appear on the hillside around 6:30pm.

Re: Braemar Snow Gate 2013-03-10

Is the camera stream MJPEG or H.264, or something different? No this is from a public webcam: http://www.braemarscotland.co.uk/cam/cam.htm My console app just downloads jpg's from it all day & then makes a movie from them all at the end of the day. So I just need to change a line in my config f...

Yes to FFMPEG, no to Linux. I'm a C# programmer so I'm using the AForge port/wrapper. Dead easy in the end (& so much easier than using Photoshop its laughable!). This question on StackOverflow got me started.
