KONTERNASTUP continues... in Glen Affric

Each successful counteroffensive requires patience. Things have to be planned in advance and then the progress made step by step. For us, at the moment, success doesn't mean bagging a lot of new hills since we have hardly anything left to bag and what's left is logistically awkward or too far away t...

Assynt as yet unseen: Canisp traverse

The idea of west-to-east traverse of Canisp first occurred to us last year when we revisited the Corbett via the usual route. This Assynt hill is one of my favourites in this area, I can't really say why, I just like it :D When sitting on the summit, we were gazing down the western ridge, admiring t...

Panther's KONTERNASTUP

At last I'm in the mood to post something again. I know, I was silent for such a long time that most of Walkhighlanders have probably forgotten that once upon a time there was a crazy Polish girl on the forum, writing all sorts of mountain nonsense stories, from multi Munro trips to plane crash site...

Re: Falls of Glomach and Glen Elchaig overnighter

Good to see Jackie enjoying the outdoors in more adventurous way :D Lovely corner of the western Highlands. Strange, I have climbed all the surrounding mountains, some more then once, but have never walked up to the falls. BTW we used one of your Glen Affric routes recently (for outlying tops of Mam...

Re: It's A Sin(t) - Weasel Hols '23 Part 4

Fantastic, Assynt always delivers, especially in weather like this! I know I shouldn't brag, but so good to live so close to this area so we can nip up there any time we want  We climbed the western ridge of Canisp in winter conditions as part of W to E traverse of the hill. Also we did the fu...

Re: Flowerdale the back way - Meall an Doirein from Loch Tol

We once walked from Poolewe to Slattadale and back, on the way back Kevin said "do you see that bumpy top to our left, must be a good viewpoint, let's take a detour!". Only later we realized that we had actually bagged another Sub   Lovely area, so rarely visited. We still haven'...

Re: Cook's Cairn and The Bochel from Allanreid

Lovely area. Cooks Cairn may not have much character by itself, but the approach via Suie is so delightful. I think it was my old report you referred to, when you mentioned the closed bridge - I remember scrambling over despite the "do not pass" sign  Shame about Suie Lodge but I gue...

It is indeed, seen from the northern top. A rare view since most walkers skip the north part of the ridge... We did a separate walk to explore it, well worth the effort :D

All yours!

Apologies for late answer, just back from a 27km hill walk and I'm knackered...

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

Thanks, I simply could not resist the lure of one of my favourite hills :D :D :D I had an issue with my PC, it suddenly decided to go on strike  I spent the whole morning fighting a bloody battle with error 404   Hopefully, that's fixed for now... Re: Ice lolly saved the day when platypus leaked on Canisp

I have a soft spot for Canisp... We revisited it last month, and will be returning next summer as we have an idea for a full traverse via the western ridge. My favourite spot on this hill is, strangely, not the summit but the small shoulder at 740m. It has great views to Suilven: 2022-09-10 canisp 1...
