Re: Montane Terra pants

I have experienced this with the Terras too. Bought a pair 2 years ago and had to opt for a large....I'm a 30 inch waist! Even then I had to have them adjusted to remove some of the elastic to make them more comfortable.

Re: Lightweight down jacket

I got a very nice lightweight Makalu down jacket by Simond from Decathlon; much cheaper than the big names in Tiso or other big brand stores but very light, packs down into a small stuff sack supplied with the jacket and I can testify to its warmth and comfortable fit. Decathlon are a French compan...

For Sale - Haglofs Rugged Mountain Pant

Hi folks, I'm looking to sell my Haglofs Rugged Mountain Pants (original). They are sized Medium Short in the stone colour. Perfect condition, rarely used. These trousers are notorious for their excellent quality and are super hard wearing. I've lost weight over the past few years and they are now t...

Re: Alpine Touring / Ski Mountaineering

Great info Fiona, thank you!

I paid a visit to Mountain Spirit on Saturday and had a good chat with the guys there. Well worth it.

Now need to decide (like you all have said) whether or not to spend some serious money!

Alpine Touring / Ski Mountaineering

Hi folks, Anyone on here got any experience of this type of skiing? Quite fancy giving this a go this winter but its a minefield out there when it comes to different ski/ boot/ binding options. Any personal recommendation on kit? Any recommendation of stores to actually visit and get some expert adv...

Lost Dog on Dumyat

Hi folks, I came across a lovely little female Jack Russell today on Dumyat at approximately 11.15. No collar and no sign of owner on the hill, at Sherrifmuir car park, Logie Kirk car park or Blairlogie car park. A lovely lady called Linda has taken her home for now and raised the issue with the loc...

Re: Blairdenon to Ben Ever

The way you describe via the Craighorn fence is quite nice, I think (I'm a fan of Craighorn, which would be a lot busier were it 30m higher), but does involve a bit of extra descent/ascent as you say. The line skirting Alva Moss to the south and coutouring the northern edge of Craighorn is drier th...

Re: Blairdenon to Ben Ever

Isn't the GPS planner really just the same as using an OS map? Which gives you the shortest route easily enough, but leaves you deep in peat hags. I don't have any better suggestions from experience, though - I got wet feet in the bog! Some of the walk reports from Blairdenon Hill suggest that it's...

magicdin wrote:Why don't you just use GPS Planner ???

Thanks for advise. However if I plotted a route on the GPS Planner I would plot my less than ideal route, wouldn't I!

Hence the question - does anyone know a better route.

Blairdenon to Ben Ever

Hey folks, looking for some advise on the best route from Blairdenon in the Ochils to Ben Ever. I've done this section a few times but never really found a route that doesn't involve a lot of drop and climb and/ or very wet feet from the bog. How I've done it more recently is hit the N/S fence line,...
