Staff were there to ensure that no one left by the back door who had travelled up on the railway.Probably a Health and Safety thing to stop tourists venturing to the top with out proper equipment. But they don't let you on the train with ice axe and crampons! You should have seen the size of the Ba...

I was there a couple of weeks ago after walking from Ben Macdhui. I had to sign in at the rear entrance of the restaurant / railway..
