Beinn Dearg From Elgin tomorrow (24th Dec)

The weather to the west was excellent yesterday (see photos below). More excellent weather forecast for tomorrow so I'm planning on heading to the munros are Beinn Dearg. If the weather doesn't look too great after Inverness I'll probably head to Ben Wyvis or Am Faochagach. Anyone want to come? Ther...

Re: A83 at Rest and be Thankful

The £760,000 programme of works will begin in January and is due to be completed by the summer.

That's a lot of money. I'm not saying this project is a bad thing, to be honest I have no opinion of it; but, that's a lot of money!

Re: Satnav Co-ordinates for Car Parking for WalkHighlands Walks

You can't at the moment, but a sort of 'combined' bagging map is something we want to do. The only thing is the technology can't show all the peaks at once, so it would work only when you zoom in and then it could show peaks from all the lists in the local area. This is most likely to be done next ...

Re: Satnav Co-ordinates for Car Parking for WalkHighlands Walks

Call me old-fashioned if you like but it's not that hard to find a car park using a map! :? This seems like a lot of bother to me. But then I am very low tech.

looking at a map is fine but it's a wee bit tricky when you're driving! Much easier to be directed to my destination by Darth Vader

Re: Satnav Co-ordinates for Car Parking for WalkHighlands Walks

Wow thanks a lot! This is going to be incredibly useful. I often spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out where to park at the start of a walk

Transport available to hills from Elgin Dec 20th to Dec 28th

Hello. I'm heading home to Elgin for Christmas (from Edinburgh). I'm planning on heading up hills every second day, weather permitting. I've got 4 spare seats in my car. Let me know if you want to come along. Note you must have adequate equipment (crampons, ice axe and waterproofs). I don't want to ...

Re: Spare seats going in my car (Edinburgh)

Right, according to MWIS: "Still a few showers on the Scottish Highlands on Thursday. The weather will then change completely. High pressure will dominate for upwards of a week." So.. There might be some nice weather this weekend, hurray! Anyone free for a trip on Saturday? Pretty open to ...

Re: Spare seats going in my car (Edinburgh)

Hi Andy, Sounds good I'll give you a bell (with plenty of advance notice) when I'm next heading up the hills. Like I said above, I'm staying in Aberfeldy this weekend and I'll be home in Elgin for two weeks over Christmas but there should be a window between next weekend and Christmas that we can he...

Re: Spare seats going in my car (Edinburgh)

Aye aye! That would be brilliant. I was planning on doing the 5 Munros from to Meall Greigh to Beinn Ghlas. If you were feeling crazy we could chuck in Meall Corranaich and Meall a'Choire Leith but I suspect the altitude we'd lose and have to regain, combined with the lack of daylight hours would sc...

Spare seats going in my car (Edinburgh)

Hello walkers. My Granny keeps nagging me that it's too dangerous to go walking up hills alone and I guess she has a point. Only one of my pals is into walking and he works most weekends, meaning I'm Jimmy no mates. I try to get up the mountains every weekend (weather permitting). My car is an estat...

Re: Beinn Narnain,Beinn Ime and Ben Arthur

Lovely photos, thanks! This is probably my favourite walk. I enjoyed it so much that I went up Ben Arthur both on the walk in and the walk out!

Walking partner (I'm in Edinburgh, with a car)

Hi, I'm planning on heading to Loch Lomond tomorrow (Sat 11th April) to climb Beinn Narnain, Beinn Ime and Ben Vane and also chuck in the Cobbler for good measure. I'm planning on climbing to the summit of the Cobbler but that's probably not a great idea alone. So, anyone fancy a long walk? I'll be ...
