Re: West Highland Way- Wild Camping

Plan it so you can use either bothy on Loch Lomond shores. Worked for me twice doing a half day 12 miles to Drymen then a full day to Rowchoish bothy and then another full day up to Crianlarich. Best wild camping is beyond Bridge of Orchy and onwards.

South ridge Ben mor Assynt

Doing a repeat of the CWT in April this year and having a shortish day on the way over to Inchnadamph considering a route over Ben Mor Assynt and Conival. Will be coming from Benmore Lodge and would access BMA via Meall an Aonaich and Carn nan Conbhairen and the south ridge of BMA. Has anybody been ...

Re: North Shiel Ridge Direction Advice

If it were me I would give consideration to doing the north side first and then dropping into the glen to camp before accessing the south side. My reasoning is that doing it the way you propose, the path up to Bealach an Lapain is very steep and will be hard work with a pack, whereas IMO if you came...

Re: Hiking the Skye trail with dogs

Did it Oct this year. I think that stile in the picture is on the path down to Keppoch on the route from Torrin. From memory you don't have to climb it, a rough path goes down the side of the fence. Cant recall any large deer fences TBH. The only section I think which might be a problem is the cliff...

Re: Oh, My, which trail, which trail?

Nothing wrong with the WHW out of season. Did it in March this year, until the last day only came across 1 other person doing it. Hills were still snow covered, makes for great photographs.
