Re: sunburn and snow at the Cairnwell

Yeah we've checked the reports for weekend and it is not so good - esp compared to last week. so we are ditching Cairn Toul and Braeriach for this weekend. instead planning a couple different around Loch Lochy. Caroline is now a convert - just hope her next trip with us is as good weather wise!! :D ...

sunburn and snow at the Cairnwell

What a cracking day we had for bagging some hills on Sunday!! We'd had this trip planned for sometime and was one of our friends first forays into the world of munros - this was an easy walk and as it turned out also absolutely glorious weather. A great intro to hillwalking - although perhaps somewh...

Beinn an Dothaidh

Sunday saw us head up to Bridge of Orchy for a wee walk up Beinn an Dothaidh. This was a nice wee trip up (recent) memory lane - my first munro was Beinn Dorain back in July 2009. On that trip we got caught in some pretty miserable weather and decided to save Beinn an Dothaidh for another day. well ...

Re: stags, more stags and plenty cloud on Stuchd an Lochain

cheers! I was lucky (but guess the stag was not) - he seemed to be a bit blind in one eye so I was able to get close. I was amazed and the number of them but tried hard not to disturb them too much - i believe they are quite weak just now after a hard winter! I think stags are incredible creatures. ...

stags, more stags and plenty cloud on Stuchd an Lochain

Set off for a nice mid-week hillwalk and planned on doing Stuchd an Lochain and Meall Buidhe. As we started to drive in we were not put off by the cloud and drizzly rain setting in - we were prepared for that!! Just as we were approaching the Loch an Daimh we were lucky enough to stags everywhere! t...
