Re: King's Seat - a Saturday stroll in the western Sidlaws

Michelle - the route description and photos in the reports should help - summary states, "Grassy hill path on climb up to Dunsinane, then rougher going on intermittent paths with some sections across deep heather." so some navigation would be needed higher up. Enjoy it.

Re: Carnoch Bridge

As already posted planning permission now granted but the Estate says it the new bridge won't be in place until the end of the year so anyone planning CWT etc this summer needs to plan accordingly.

Re: Guides for Skye Cuillins.

You've probably seen this list of Skye guides - my understanding is that Paddy McGuire is guiding next year but probably thats the last year, but there's plenty of others that are very good as well - have a great trip.

Re: Arran coastal way - streets/roads

Hi jan You'd need to read through each section's description on the Arran Coastal Way route info to see the amount of road walking - it doesn't dominate imo apart from the Lochranza to Imachar and Imachar to Blackwaterfoot sections, but even these I still found enjoyable with plenty of views - buses...

Re: Orkney Isles

Hi Keith Guessing you'll have seen the Orkney walks on here. If you're reliant on public transport, buses are pretty good but it would limit the number of other islands you can visit as day trips. Walks on South Ronaldsay that are particularly good are Hunda and the East Coast Walk which takes in th...

Re: Steall Falls, Glen Nevis

Hi Ardsheal - the path up Glen Nevis to the falls has been improved a lot since 9 years ago and again more recently following a rock fall last year, however it is still rocky and rough underfoot but with no real difficulties - the description on Walkhighlands and photos may help - hope you have a go...

Re: Scottish National Trail Through Hike

Its a great trail which builds up from easier to harder walking/navigation so you can get a handle for how you are progressing as time goes on and the route gets more remote. General info on the Scottish National Trail website and route description can be found there or here on WH - had quite a bit ...

Re: The John o' Groats Trail

It should be possible in 9 days, but obviously depends on fitness, weather, river conditions, how much your carrying etc. The detailed descriptions for each stage of the John o'Groats Trail should help with the planning - the times given are pretty generous so if you're a fast walker and you'll have...
