Re: Good price for Burma Pro's?

I find the boot to be quite a narrow fit and when I first put them on they felt that they were going to cause problems, especially across the top of the foot. Funnily enough once you start doing a bit of walking outdoors they feel pretty comfy, my only complaint is the insole could be improved upon...

Re: National 3 Peaks

To most it's not the routes that are the challenge or even important, but the fact that they are done within 24hrs. It's a challenge and like the London Marathon it's going to attract people. ... the following year we did Tryfan N ridge in the morning, then Striding Edge/Helvellyn in the late after...

Re: National 3 Peaks

Was thinking of doing it this year - but tending towards a 3 night camp at Wasdale Head, with a couple of very long circuits from there instead. Really fancy something like Lakeland 3000 as it's a tougher challenge anyway

Re: Good price for Burma Pro's?

Mine were £90 inc p&p 14 months ago - new, boxed, with tags on from ebay - had been sat in the bottom of a wardrobe for a year (someone's impulse purchase = my bargain). If you are confident in your size in a particular brand there there are some good bargains on ebay - some never worn (purchase...

Re: Snow In The Lakes?

Likewise - I don't find Striding Edge that exposed, even when sticking right on top, great scenery though - one for taking it slow and enjoying. Jack's Rake is more exciting - especially the first time with 10 year old daughter, Sharpe Edge, staying right on top, is fun, but too short (even when tak...

Re: Snow In The Lakes?

I walked tove/armboth in the middle of our glorious summer (ahem) - wainwright joked about thigh length gumboots... he wasn't joking.. man it was wet. Last time I was there (2010) one of my companions did vanish up his thighs in mud! Also found a Vicar of Dibley style puddle - not sure what caught ...

Re: Best Lightweight Breathable Waterproof/Windproof Jacket

Firebrand - slightly hijacking your thread, but how does the Montane Litespeed H2O perform - thinking of getting one for summer use/good weather walking.

Re: Which GPS? Back up only!

I have a original (basic) etrex that I have used for 9 years now - just supplemented it with an Andriod (HTC) Phone with ViewRanger (in offline mode with the maps downloaded to the card beforehand). Putting the phone in airplane mode means the battery lasts the day easily (I always carry my work pho...

Of course it is, missed that when I first looked - had coffee/lunch in the derelict "whatever it is" a few times.
