Great to be alive!!

Hello all

Today, I reached my second summit (Ben Reoch in Tarbet) since my fall. The conditions were perfect and the views stunning. It really felt great to be alive!! ( and lucky too) THought I'd share that with you.

If you've never tried the "Arrochar Alps" then you've missed out!!

Re: walk with kids

Hi Adamak Plenty to do in and around Aberfeldy that involves plenty of exercise for young legs!! For easy to moderate walking, with a summit at the end, you could try Meal Mhor 546m and Craig Formal 511m. Both are reached by tracks from the centre of Aberfoyle, CF is closest, reached by forest walks...

Having recently been the subject of a visit on Beinn Achaladair by MRT!! is there a hand-held GPS on the market that not only plots your position for your benefit, but also sends out your position in emergencies?? We have a system at work, manufactured by Sepura, which has two-way radio, phone and G...

Stob Coire Easain & Stob a'Choire Mheadhoin

I completed these two Munros with a slight adjustment to the walk-in and carried on south to Corrour. I caught the Fort William sleeper from Helensburgh Upper and once at Tulloch, I headed through the forest and negotiated the River Spean. There is a track that runs next to the railway line that bri...

Re: NEW FEATURE - Gaelic pronunciation

Paul, great idea! Cameron McNeish's have pronounciations included in each description, although even thase, as I have found out, are subject to local dialect!! Does make you you look a bit daft, but tolerated for trying!!

Re: Bad hill days

I did a solo climb of Beinn Ime and Beinn Narnain on New Years Day 2006. I abstained the night before and went to bed early as I was going to be a long day. I parked at Butterbridge and head up to the beallach on the south-west of Beinn Ime. I met up with a group at the summit who were doing both Mu...

Re: 50 & fitness level for Skye

Hi 0113 Sorry bout late reply, have just joined. I'm process of getting back to full (hopefully) climbing fitness after a bad fall last year. I use the treadmill at the gym for cardio and strength, increasing height and distance, though not speed, keeping it at walking pace. When I was training b4 f...

Re: Excellent Site

Thanks for that and will do. I had been in process of a charity-based attempt to complete all Munroes within a time-frame when I fell, so had been spending much time in the hills. Now it's as frequent though less demanding, for now anyway!! And obviously new company would be an asset!!

Excellent Site

Stumbled upon this yesterday and very impressed, esp links to OS map and route descriptions. Paul, I'm looking for company out on hills. any area and standard, although not able to accomodate grade 4s and "dawn till dusk" yet. I've been out on hills for many years, remote camping etc but h...

Re: Weather advice for highlands walking?

Hi!! Have just started on this site as yours was the first one I read I'd thought I would reply. Scottish weather is so unpredictable and snow can stay on the high peaks into late spring. I remember seeing a pic of a snow topped Nevis in June!! That being said, I was out today and there was very lit...
