That photo of Tess always gets me. She was the start of an enduring love of black female labs. 8)

Dogs on Mull

I've a friend going to Mull next week which had us chatting about it and me looking at old photos, bringing back a flood of memories. Pete and I had a week there in 2014 along with the dogs. In 2005 we had adopted Jack at 9 months and Tess at 15 months. Over the intervening years they were up many h...

Dogs came to the rescue

Eight of us in two cars headed for the Black Isle and parked near Fortrose cathedral before setting off towards Fortrose Academy. Two of the group (one from Wales and one from Plymouth) hadn't been here before so I was hopeful they might see some dolphin activity at Chanonry Point. Not overly hopefu...

Re: Forty shillings island

A lovely read, and great photos. Love the 40 shilling notice! A few years ago I saw a documentary about the Findhorn community, very interesting. Tim Thanks Tim. I read somewhere the Findhorn community is pulling out of their site at Findhorn, not sure why or where they're going to and how that wil...

Forty shillings island

This adventure started with a visit to Knockvologan beach in 2022. I was there with three grandchildren. It was cloudy and not your usual sunbathing kind of beach day, so we had a scavenger hunt, collecting items starting with as many letters of the alphabet as we could find. That kept us busy for a...

Re: Kilvickeon beach by long way round then did a daft thing

shredder wrote:I think a lot of us would have done what you did given where you were heading for. You got home in one piece and that's the main thing!

Thanks shredder. Yes I got home in one piece - just annoyed with myself for not pulling off my attempt at a short cut!

Re: January Blues Above The Clouds

That was certainly worth your early start to drive up. What a day you got with the silver lining being that the usually boggy bits were frozen solid. I really like your fifth photo just before the first summit.

Re: Magical island

Your photos capture the jewel colours of Iona beautifully. Thanks for adding them to show what it's like there on a blue sky day. :D

Re: Spectres and snowbows - above the cloud on Bynack More

Think it's about time I paid Bynack More another visit and got some photos this time. It looks so different in its winter garb, but then everything does. Great photos of the fog bows!

Re: A Snowy Day on The Storr

Those beautifully sharp long views are rather different from what I could see from the Storr - although I thought I got a pretty good day too. Absolutely stunning in the snow and crystal clear in the cold winter air.

Re: Quick Ben Chonzie in the snow

You got some lovely photos in the winter sun! For solid ice microspikes make a huge difference. I have Kahtoola ones and have never slipped when using them. :D
