Re: Hey

Sure you'll be able to add to the site in many ways. Maybe write a report if you have time?

Re: Hi

Well, it's now November, so I guess you are getting a bit of hill fitness back. It's over a couple of years since I got up a Munro as I have been doing the Wainwrights. I thought I was unlikely to poke my nose above 3000 feet ever again, but three in a group were nearly that, so I guess it is "...

Re: Back to the 90's: Loch Morar and Loch Nevis

" We had been out quite a lot longer than expected! " Now why aren't I surprised? Largely because it is just the sort of thing R would have done, and my consent would have been presumed unless I had actually sat down and refused to go any further. However, in retrospect I was {mostly} glad...

Re: “Easy” hills to climb - north Argyll / Loch Leven

Meall an 't Slamain. Did this in the short hours of a meet at the Corran Bunkhouse last year. Opposite Fort William with good view and the Corran ferry is now working again. This year December) I am going up Ben Hiant. . R and I did it on the same meet, but 2019, so it can't be that hard as it was a...

Re: Ben Cruachan

Probably as well not to go along the ridge in those conditions, as although the wobbly slab wasn't as bad as I expected, I did it on a fine calm day. Wouldn't have liked it in those conditions.

Re: Five Hills from the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale,

We climbed Great Gable in 1997 but as it was part of a large Marilyn bagging day don't think we saw it. Isn't in R's account if the day while he usually noted things like that. I climbed Baluderon Hill behind Dundee yesterday to pay my respects to Syd Scroggie. His cairn is up there, and while he di...

Re: Will I or won't I on the Pap of Glencoe?

Lovely autumnal colours. Did this when I was 65 from your route of descent. Certainly not one I would want to repeat now, I would go for something less steep even if larger.

Re: The West Highland Way.. 'HOW HARD CAN IT BE?'

Congratulations on Runner Up prize. I did it in 10 days in wonderful weather except for the last afternoon. Couldn't even have contemplated walking with that blister. I am still trying to find a long distance way that I would enjoy half as much...but I guess that wouldn't be a problem with you.

Re: An Dorus Day Out

Did it this way with a long-legged friend who was certainly necessary for down-climbing. On the way up we passed a threesome on Greadaidh who had inexplicably brought ropes , and they were still trying to disentangle themselves on the way down.

Re: The Worst Win

P.S. People should add to your list of DON'TS. DON'T descend casually down a route that stray hillwalkers tell you is "The Irvine Butterfield Route". I don't think even Irvine Butterfield would have gone down that precipitous shaley slope. There may have been an Irvine Butterfield route, b...

Re: The Worst Win

This is probably not the right time to point out that what you were bum-sliding down was heather, NOT gorse. Had it been gorse, you wouldn't have got anywhere near the river, but might be up there still. This is gorse and it is bush sized. Friend managed to clone his car key from his wife's using a ...
