Bheoil-ing hot day on Ben Alder :)

Enjoyed, my second stay in Dingwall, after a memorable day on the Mullardoch hills. Didn't get so lucky with my room this time, previously getting upgrade to one the size of a tennis court. This time was more the size of a ping-pong table :D Still, was clean, cheap and cheerful. Woke up to heavy fog...

Re: An Teallach and the great deception!

We had clag to completely remove all the sense of exposure when we did it, that definitely helped me! I remember that Scoob helped me up the first wee tricky bit with his hand held out, after that it was all ok. I'm curious how I'll feel when I go along it again. You have 12 fine hills left too Inc...

Am Faochagach, from the Dirrie Mor.

Had been hoping I might tag this one onto an overnighter, or two, but didn't work out that way. It's a long drive for one, but just about on the radar for Me n Jaf. With the mild Aug/Sept, we felt it worth the effort, if it made bogs and river crossing not too unpleasant, despite the deteriorating l...

Re: Ben Ime from Butterbridge: only for the headstrong

Sounds like you went similar route to myself? - https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=65114 I'd agree not a very good way to go, but would have to disagree about going from BB. Just head east for lowest point of the bealach, then turn south up north face. Done it this way sev...

Re: An Teallach and the great deception!

Enjoyed reading your report of the classic traverse of AT. Well done for tackling Corrag Buidhe, and you had every right to be furious with Derek for forgetting the rope! Not much use donning harnesses without a rope :? Still, at least you got the added kudos of doing it unroped (about the same sta...

An Teallach and the great deception!

Another long yin .. or, yawn, so perhaps just skim to pics, unless you have insomnia :) (Sorry, can't seem to help myself.) Had a shout from good buddy, Steve who has kept an eye on me over some of the trickiest hills I've done and knew I had An Teallach in my sights. Knowing I'm not keen on exposur...

Re: Mullardoch Inversion Meltdown!

Brilliant day you had - these are seriously stunning hills in these conditions, great photos, brought back lots of fond memories. We managed similar conditions here a few years ago, but in May we had the joys of added snow   Thank you, H&P. Yes, I was lucky with weather. Wouldn't want...

Re: The In Pinn & Mhic-Choinnich. Do I do, or Do I don't ?

Very well done Jimmy, great to over come your fears and Skye is very nearly compleat. Hi wandering one, hope you're good and had a laugh at this report. An Teallach to follow, though taking near as long as this one to do  Thanks for your help along the way. Looks like last two will need to wai...

Mullardoch Inversion Meltdown!

A previous look at Loch Mullardoch was abandoned as the weather and Jaf's back were playing up, but with a decent window opening up, I decided to go for a couple of nights away despite growing pain from frozen shoulders. Although Lawrence couldn't join me for Mullardoch, we planned a meet up the fol...

Re: The In Pinn & Mhic-Choinnich. Do I do, or Do I don't ?

I still haven't decided whether to try and do all the munros or not - but your great report was pretty inspiring, maybe I will need to get a guide and tick off the daunting ones after all ... Thanks, GLD. After my experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend getting a guide, though some folk ...

The Western Fannich's - great summer's day, aye, right!

And so to the Western Fannich's after yesterdays storm. We enjoyed a few beers and some nice grub in the Aultguish Inn, happy in the knowledge tomorrow, couldn't be as bad as today, could it? Forecast actually showed it dry till 1pm, still whoora windy mind you. We reckoned we might at least m...

Re: The In Pinn & Mhic-Choinnich. Do I do, or Do I don't ?

Well done! Riveting story! I was feeling your anxiety every step of the way  Cheers, ScottFinn, I'm glad I gave it a go. I'm sure I would be as anxious next time, but it shows what can be achieved with a good guide. In retrospect, I wish I'd used one before. All the best when it's you...
