Re: Ben Nevis and CMD

Wow - winter conditions, the CMD arete, a temperature inversion and brocken spectres - that must really have been something. We'd definitely like to see those photos! To upload photos directly, the one thing you need to have done is to have resized them so they are a maximum of 600 pixels wide. This...

Re: Mountain Boots

Hi there. I've worn Scarpa for years - currently SLs; I used to wear Mantas but I think they made them much stiffer a few years back. These do for year round use; not cheap though unless you can buy last years model in a sale.

Re: Grahams

Depressing? It's worlds to conquer! That was one reason why I put each set of hills on its own map - otherwise it would be a swamp. As for your wife, I take it the lure of the hills isn't too strong? There's always the seafood (yum), ever improving beers, and Glasgow shopping (best in UK apparently ...

Grahams

Yes - we've spent the last couple of days sticking pins in maps and searching for highest points - and the end result is that we now have interactive maps for the Grahams! It isn't yet possible to connect a trip report for a Graham to the hills - but don't worry, if you have a trip report including ...

Re: Ben Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin from Ardvorlich

I should warn you before your jinx strikes again! The bridge just short of Arivurichardich was washed away a few years back. I attempted this route and was unable to cross the river and had to abandon it, though it must depend on the amount of rain.

Re: Hi

Hi Shuggley and welcome to the site! You can record the Munros you've climbed on your own map by using the 'Munros - Update' button above.

Yes, I think we're very lucky to have Scotland. I wouldn't swap it for any of the other countries I've hiked in, and that includes quite a few!

Re: Lake district...

OK Grahams will be the next step on that front - though not for some time yet.

OK so we lied - Grahams will be available very soon.

Re: Username change and picture

Hi Mark Do you mean adding a picture that goes with your username? If so, go to 'User Control Panel' (look to the top left), then 'Profile', then 'Avatar'. You can then upload an image (as long as it's been made small enough) from your computer. You can't change your username yourself; if you want t...

Re: The Scottish 4,000ers in aid of MRT

Well done on going back. I get squeemish if I think about even my own misadventures (just dislocated knees a couple of times) so I think it probably took a bit of courage to head back to the spot. The weather looks almost the same in your photos too. If you'd like me to put a separate board on the F...

Re: Munro bagging system

Phew - I always get worried with these things! I think I should really make the changing region button submit your updated peaks as well as it isn't very intuitive.

Re: Munro bagging system

It should be working. After you've chosen your region and filled in some more checkboxes, are you clicking on the 'Update Munros' button at the bottom?

Re: Beinn Ghlas, Ben Lawers & Unstuc on An Stuc 29 Oct 08

 Blimey - a bit too much of an adventure that day! I find An Stuc bad enough in summer conditions - let alone covered in ice and a dusting of snow. I don't really think it's a go-er in winter without full-on mountaineering skills - it'd probably be a graded climb. Getting dark on the ridge do...

Re: Meall nan Tarmachan 26 Oct 08

Good report - I really like the rainbow pic. I was on little Ben A'an that day I think - and it was cold enough there!
