Re: Clegs

I did the 6 munros East of Glenshee yesterday and only one of them managed to get me. I've managed to avoid them and midgies so far this summer 8) I spoke too soon  As soon as I got out the car at Loch Cluanie today the midgies got tore in and this continued at various points over A'Chraleag a...

Re: Ben Vane - Arrochar Munros Complete!

Rossco wrote:It was a brilliant day out!

The next challenge though is going for two Munros in one day...

You will hate me.

My first double was Ben More & Stob Binnein. I probably could have picked an easier pair

Re: Into the Interior: Beinns Dearg & Mheadhonach

I did that Corbett from the other side after doing Carn a'Chlamain and it was a bit of a slog from that side. I found a path running off the summit of Mheadhonach but it stopped abruptly in the heather which was a truly bizarre sight. I found the bridge by accident and it is a strange sight when you...

Re: Changing weather in the Mammores

The Mamores is still my favourite area and I will never tire of visiting it. I've had the same "really not in the mood" attitude a few times but it's amazing how quick it lifts :D

Re: 7th Munro - 1st conquered on my own!

I think Ben Vorlich might have been my first solo hill as well. There's nothing wrong with wanting to get out there yourself and I would guess half my munros have been done that way.

Re: Ben Cruachan take 2 (ladies)

Some nice photos Martin :D These two are great hills and despite a bit of clag rolling in you got some great views. You should have done the slabs though........they're really not as bad as they might look. Even I've done them.........twice  I would agree, the slabs were great fun  I thin...

Re: Lettermay trio

I see those hills every day yet I always head further North. I think I'll save them for the winter.

Re: Magnificent 7 conquer Corrour 3

You did the right thing by heading along the track and up Beinn na Lap from the front. I did it round the back of the trees after doing the other two munros and it was a horrible walk. It was up and down like a rollercoaster and the underfoot conditions varied wildly. It was a couple of years ago th...

Re: Chippy Chonzie - and a missed opportunity

I did it from Glen Lednock and after climbing Auchnafree Hill a few weeks ago, I wished I had did it from the Turret dam. I agree about the walk on the other side of the loch as it looks like a cracker. I'll just need to go back!

Re: Loch Lochy Hills

That was a really good read. I'm trying to decide where to go this Saturday and you've pushed these two to the top of the list. I like the sound of the ridge you mentioned near the end so I'll try to plan a route that incorporates it.

Re: Corrour advice

I did the three of them between trains and ended up with about 40 minutes to wait. It would have been longer but I knew on the descent from Beinn na Lap that I had time to spare.

The walk from Sgor Gaibhre to Beinn na Lap seemed to go on forever though...

Re: Best Munros & Why??

So far Stob Ghabhar has been my favourite hill. Although I couldn't see anything at the top, the walk was done in the snow and the Aonach Eagach ridge was thoroughly enjoyable.
