Re: The benefits of bright clothing

I do find that my all black gear stands out a little too much in snow conditions and have purchased an ex-marines off-white arctic warfare smock to wear, so I that will blend into the next whiteout I encounter  On a slightly more serious note, it doesn't really make much difference what colour ...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

No, nothing to do with covid, the pandemic or vaccinations.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Nothing to do with dollars. Strangely, if you are searching the internet you might need to go to Wales!

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Credit to Rohan for putting the answer into my head, but I don't seem to know much about the obscure posers used recently so I will take the crumbs when they come my way.

Why is S0 unique? Or is it?

Re: So how busy was it?

Loch Lochy M's on Saturday (17.04). About 10 cars. I guess too far from the central belt for the mad crowd  Like this: $matches[2] and 5 minutes later at 0737 it looked like this: $matches[2] luckily there are ways of avoiding the main path, and my walk up looked like this: $matches[2] quite ...

Re: Map Brain Teaser

I thought that jmarkb would be the first to get this correct, and I'm glad that this has created some interest. The NLS maps are a great resource, but I still like to collect old paper maps. The one I took this information from was 1:25,000 first series sheet NT16 Balerno, which appears to have been...

Re: Map Brain Teaser

No takers as yet, but always pleased when Tim takes an interest. As a map is involved you would be correct in assuming that units of area are involved.

Map Brain Teaser

Looking at an old Ordnance Survey map today I found information in the margin that I hadn't noticed before: Can you tell me the scale of the map and the units used and which of these three choices is correct: a) 1= 99.396 b) 1= 99.639 c) 1= 99.936 further clues to come if necessary

Re: Grayside Wind Farm - Culter Fell, Hudderstone and Surrou

This proposal saddens me, but is not really a surprise given the number of turbines already in the area. I went up over Cowgill Rig in July 2020 and onto Hudderstone and then walked down to the south end of Cowgill Upper reservoir and then north along the westside of the reservoir. I will retrieve s...
