Quechua Boots?

Rather annoyingly, the leather on my three year old Burma Pros has started to split which has allowed dirt to get through and damage the goretex lining, hence a wet right foot in heavy rain or on wet grass. Outside of bath/shower time, I don't much like having my right foot wet, nor my left for that...

I've been up Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas a number of times in wellies.

Re: Mendl Burma Pros

My Burma pros were not what could be called comfortable to begin with, but after about 200 miles of lots of swearing they more or less wore in. On the downside the leather has now started to split and they leak.

I really wanted to be a Burma pro fan, but I think I may be looking elsewhere soon.

Re: Torridon wild camp

I seem to recall there was some nice flat spots near the summit of Tom na Gruagaich, although it would be a good weather only camp. I can't remember what the water situation was like though.

Re: Water Purifying Tablets

i generally just drink the water straight from the burn - my own house water comes from the same place, although I do now have a fancy filter system to remove the dirt. That said, when out walking I do carry a tiny bottle of Milton steralsing fluid which I use to steralise any water that is suspect ...

First Foray into the Nevis's

I've been meaning to get in about the Mamores for a few years but for one reason or another never quite done anything apart from drive by. I've got to say it was worth the wait. That said, tere's not really much to write in this trip report - I left late, arrived late, got held up by Germans (actual...

Re: Tracking a Black Panther, giving up, doing something els

Nice report. Oh to live so close to Munros! If I want to go climb a munro it requires minimum 2 days and realistically 3, plus hundreds of pounds in fuel, accomodation, booze and cake fancies! It's the cake fancies that are the killer! And I thought I was the only one who took pleasure (and employm...

Tracking a Black Panther, giving up, doing something else

Tuesday before last saw the morning arrive with a sky full of sunshine and I was not particularly looking forward to another day sitting in my North facing office. Fortune, however, was smiling on me for once as my daughter appeared to have been struck with a particularly unpleasant bug. Ill child =...

Half a walk

Not posted anything of late, partly because I haven't been doing a whole lot of walking due to my knee playing up, the delivery of an additional child unit and I don't much care for bad weather, but mainly because I'm just far too lazy to write anything once I've been walking. However, I find my mor...

Re: Anyone up for some tutting

I've been to the top of Lawers about twenty times now, not once with any real equipment or decent footwear. Nineteen of those times was before I was fifteen years old Once did it in moccasins, although I was eleven or twelve and we did go most of the way in the tractor while gathering the sheep. Jus...

Re: Buachaille Etive Mor

I drove past if again the other day for the first time in ages. Unfortunately I was on the motorbike so there was no one to tell that I'd been up there :( A few months of relative inactivity have left me a little on the portly side at the moment so I really need to get back out to the hills. It's pr...

Re: Buachaille Etive Mor, Curved Ridge, an Awesome day

Absolutely bloody fantastic Alan! It is a little ego deflating to know I was the only one on Etive Mor that day who went up the tourist route.
