Grading system

Not sure whether this has been mentioned previously, I'm far too lazy to read back through old posts to see if anyone else mentioned it. The site might benefit from a more in-depth grading system At the moment just about every munro falls into the four boots grade when the reality on the ground is m...

Re: Sunshine on Leith

1. Welcome to the dark side. Once tasted you will forever have a hankering for the rubberised, yet crumbly stodge that is the tesco value macaroni pie while on the hill. I hope you put the remaining three in the freezer for future adventures? 2. Photo six is a set of perfectly serviceable bog tester...

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

Can't comment on your looks since you have as yet to reveal yourself! No its because you said Maths O level rather than Standard Grade. In ancient times when I sat my exams they were O Levels, in fact you did a separate one for Arithmetic and another for Maths. You'll be glad to know I passed both....

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

Left the building! Well, actually, no I haven't, I live here, but yes, Elvis it is. A pilots license requires very little in the way of mathematical ability. Yes, you've got to draw lines and numbers on a piece of paper which is supposed to tell you how long it's going to take you to get where you'r...

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

bet you checked your profile though didn't you? :) Anyway, a biomedical chemistry has got to be pretty similar to accountancy I'd have thought. The trick to the equation is not to think about it logically. In fact, the easiest way is to ignore everything apart from the last number. I tell you, It's ...

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

You're profile says you're an accountant though. How can you not work out who I'm listening to from that? Not that I'm listening to him anymore, I can't think of what to listen to now. I had been planning on doing five munros, but dropped one and did another three times. It actually makes sense in m...

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

This is by far the best report (in my humble opinion) that you have ever submitted :D I absolutely loved it! Lo and behold, you're a very funny guy   Please tell me that you did 'copy and paste' for all of the Squiz references? (where was Mrs Squiz?) PS your photographs could NEVER be des...

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

That would be the lens to take! I had the polariser and ND grad on pretty much all day. As for the weight, get yourself one of these: hands free camera harness. Best spent £18 in a long time I think!

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

Glad I didn't rush straight to the pics (as usual), brilliant read, highly entertaining, held me to the end. As for the pics its already been said ! They seem incredibly sharp, is this just a result straight from the camera or sharpening in Photoshop or similar. I can get similar results but only b...

Re: Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

Thanks for all the comments :) Gorgeous pictures, brought back some old memories :D :D Mam Sodhail was my first Munro, but I was unlucky to do it in cloud... It was actually your report of Toll Creagach and Tom a'Choinich from earlier this year that helped me decide to do this walk. stunning photos!...

Glen Affric (1x3) +4 -1 =4

It had been absolutely glorious sunshine all the way up the A9, apart from a few miles of low fog between Dunkeld and Pitlochry, but as I drove down Affric it started to grey up a little, nothing major, but enough to remind me that this is Scotland. Late again, I arrived at Chisholme Bridge about 2i...

Re: South Affric circuit (May 2009)

Good question - it wasn't really on my mind at the time, but my memory of the terrain is that it was pretty lumpy. I think you'd find a sheltered hollow somewhere. Some chance on the ridge between Carn Glas Iochdarach and Carn a Choire Ghairbh I'd think (between NH162203 to NH138190). Failing that,...

Re: South Affric circuit (May 2009)

Did you see any half decent high ground camping spots on this walk? It looks like it could get quite windswept with very little in the way of shelter, but just wondering if there were any sheeted bits that you didn't take pictures of? I'm busy planning a few lower level winter walks for when the sno...
