Maol Chean-dearg - cloudy but still fun!

Torridon is one of my favorite areas in Scotland. I'm still waiting impatiently for a good enough day to tackle Liathach (the only of the big Torridon trio I haven't climbed yet). Unfortunately, weather hasn't been so great lately, so for our next trip we picked an easier hill, Maol Chean-dearg. I h...

Re: Slioch

Great report and stunning pictures. Such a fantastic mountain and on my to-do list for a long time... I was walking in the Fannichs on the very same day and saw your hill from the top of A'Chailleach :D

Meowing in the Fannichs: Sgurr Breac and A'Chailleach

The Fannichs: I drove past them so many times. But so far my only achievement in this area was one Corbett (done in winter conditions with very wet feet). The time came therefore to change it! After rainy Saturday, Sunday looked a bit better - a few showers and clouds here and there, but surely a te...

Re: The Hills Are Stuffed With Swedish Girls...

Well I myself like more rounded women, is that so bad. Never said it is bad to like curvy girls, quite the opposite. I only referred to the pressure of our society on women to be skeleton-lookalike size 4 like models on catwalk - and that IS bad. I think anybody regardless of shape and size should ...

Re: The Hills Are Stuffed With Swedish Girls...

Just a thought about what you said... I'm a woman (not Swedish) and I think it is fantastic that more and more girls are embracing the idea of hillwalking. Not only it is a great fun, it also keeps girls slim and fit. Isn't that what guys like?... In many cases, people climbing hills are couples (li...

Re: Ord Ban & Loch an Eilein, Rothiemurchus

This report should be called "Pure Scotland" or "The taste of Highlands" :D :D It has a bit of almost every Scottish attraction, apart from coastal cliffs and scrambling! Shame the castle is not accessible.
Did the dog catch this poor bird?

Re: Geal Charn - the other way

A nice easy Munro this one is :D Funny, I posted my report from it just a few hours before you. We climbed it the usual way from Garva, it was just after a few days of heavy rain so we didn't want to risk crossing Markie Burn. My husband had done it some 10 years ago on his own, using your route and...

Geal Charn

One day after coming back from Isle of Skye we followed the good weather spot south to Monadhliath hills. We chose a single Munro, Geal Charn, for our walk because again, showers were forecast for the afternoon so we wanted to be up and down before the rain. The mountain itself didn't look very insp...

Re: 'Liking' trip reports

Hi, I'd like to have my word on the subject if you don't mind :D The "click if you like" seems a good idea but as other people said above here, just numbers rather than names would be more tidy. Usually when I plan a trip I go to WH and check if there is a walk description for the one I ha...

Re: My Skye Part 5: The land of waterfalls

Oh...also...I noticed you live in or near Beauly? We spent some time there in 2009, was one of my very favorite places in all of Scotland...the people there were just amazing! For hardly any cost, a very friendly man at Morisons set us up with fishing gear and gave us access to a tiny private loch ...

Re: My Skye Part 5: The land of waterfalls

Thanks for all your comments, boys and girls :D :D Looks like a great way to end a great little getaway! On my first visit to Scotland I was amazed at all the water falls that pop up after (or during) a good rain. Anyhow, good job...you're reports are so fun to read!!! :D It was a wet week - every s...

Re: Walk Highlands hall of fame??

As someone who is relatively new to the site I am surprised that people find it cliquey in any way. I'm with you on that, Chris. I've only been posting on this forum for less than a year, I read lots of posts - some great ones, some not so great - but generally, any report can be useful whether I'm...

My Skye Part 5: The land of waterfalls

So the time has come to write the last (but not least) chapter of My Skye Reports. It's only a short stroll along the coast but views were so nice that I can't help myself and I must post some pics. Climbing Sgurr na Banachdidch should be good enough an achievement for one day, especially in unstabl...
