I did these two last March in snow from Inverlochlarich, that route might be a better option for you to try in future. I did a walk report on it, which may be of interest to you and it's also worth noting we all got up and down without the use of crampons

I did this hill recently and climbed up the north face, it is a bit steep but very doable. It was also my first time using crampons due to the steepness. I descended down the east face Must have been interesting It was pretty hard going, one of the toughest climbs i've done.It took me five hours

I read it was only 300 feet (on Yahoo news I think). But it sounds a bit like he was under-equipped as he slipped on ice but it sounds like he didn't have an ice axe but was relying on walking poles - not much chance of arresting with those I don't think! Beinn a Chrulaiste 22/01/11

Doing this hill on Saturday if anyone interested. Leaving Alloa at 08.00hrs if anyone wishes to share a lift, i have 2 spare seats going or failing that can pick up enroute ie Callander, Crianlarich etc or if anyone wishes to make their own way there, they're more than welcome to join us on the walk

Although i stay in Livingston, i do a lot of walks from Alloa so you are more than welcome to tag along anytime you wish. I sometimes go alone or with my partner or walking buddies.

Step 1 Sign them up for WH
Step 2 Let them choose a username
Step 3 Show them the red balloon map
Step 4 Drag them up their first hill
Step 5 Log their first hill
Step 6 Show them the balloon is now blue
Step 7 They are now addicted

You can still call 999 from a mobile even if you have no reception, i'm not sure if you allready know this, only problem is the emergency services cannot contact you back.
