Re: Kerloch - a cow-free route from the west

I have been looking to do this route.
Once I get the motivation for walking again, it’s my next one.
Thank you for the detailed report

Re: Campervans

Our roads are not fit for purpose in most areas and mixed with really slow drivers are a chore to drive on. When you are learning to drive you are taught to drive at the speed limit and penalised for driving slowly. Somewhere along the line many have forgotten this. You get the odd nutter but loads ...

Re: Campervans

From my experience is not the vw transporter style camper vans that are the issue , they can tramp on as safely and quickly as any car. It’s the bigger white motorhomes that are worst and dare I say old people happy to drive at 40-45mph in cars. I was stuck behind an old man who I knew for 11 miles ...

Re: Post-Ben Rinnes

I can get where your coming from , I struggle with exposure etc. I have found it improves as the walking season goes and over the years I cope much better so don’t give up. Click my walks done, none are overly exposed but as your in Forres the east coast walks are a fair drive. Start with Ben Macduf...

Re: Kerloch - any cows?

Walking with kids as usual did an excellent report on it on Sunday with no mention of cows.

I’m interest in the answer as it one of the few Aberdeenshire sub 2 I haven’t done because of the cow issue.
Not doing a 3 hr return drive to have to ditch it because of cow hell.

Re: Benaquhallie & Bursting

Used this route and start point. A word of note whilst there is space for one car to park next to unused shed without blocking any access this parking is in somebody’s property there is a lived in cottage just the other side of the dilapidated barn. Wasn’t entirely comfortable parking here but did i...

Re: Ideas for Viewranger replacement.

I tried Locus and Topo gps this week. Quite liked Topo, it has the direction arrow you are facing on your position which it seems others don’t. Has os maps that have to be paid for. Will persevere with it whilst trying others. Locus is binned had me 200 metres off summit of a sub2 , not to be trusted...
